Great question. I think, the only thing that have grown consistently (other than external debt) is the population.
That is in the constitution as a continued struggle for the Pakistan nation.
You would be pretty surprised that crime rate is amongst the least in the region despite having governance problems of a developing country.

Pakistanis work hard not smart and when they start working smart they will be among the first nation.
I would add to that the number of poor people who have to go to countries (with little migrant rights) and face hard conditions just to earn money and the number of educated people who have to go to countries (with easier immigration) to work survival jobs because lack of opportunity, law and environment in our own country. Sad.
