US went into Afghanistan because stubborn Taliban who supported Bin Laden's AQ pre 9/11 attacks wouldnt give BIn Laden Up.

Iran and India supported US in ousting the Taliban because of the Taliban(and with Pakistan's support)'s abuse of Afghanistan minorities. Taliban used horrible violence against minorities, even did genocides. massacred hazaras, tajiks etc. Look at the 19 Iranian diplomats the Taliban killed. Its good ur defending the taliban- just like your govt. Taliban will NEVER abuse another minority group in Afghanistan, and i support my US govt in enforcing that.

We had 10 lovely years of peace in Afghanistan before WoT. Put blame where blame is due.

When my uncle back in 1994 had prostrate cancer and there were no hospital or advanced equipment to help him at hospitals, my grandfather decided to travel to Pakistan, but due to war we were in poverty and had no money. He went to a local Taliban leader and told him about his condition, the Taliban leader gave him his own money to help my Grandfather, needless to say my uncle passed away, still his help was a blessing in disguise.

Later during their rule, we travelled to various provinces that was under Taliban rule as my mother was a doctor and they needed her expertise in different hospitals throughout Afghanistan. We did not experience any problems from them whatsoever, in fact we rarely encountered them. Our life was upset when USA invaded (and I hold Mullah Omar fully accountable for not listening to the majority of his advisors and not surrendering Osama) despite that we had a good life as did many other Afghans. This is the side that is not talked about, and only their cruelties are highlighted.

My family then fled to Pakistan, and we were taken in by our family in Peshawar who allowed us to stay in their home, until we we came to Canada.

Other Afghans will tell you different stories, mainly non-Pashtuns. However, this is a mainly a discriminatory problem. There isn't one nation that doesn't have these kind of problems, even Japan (supposedly the height of a civilised nation) has untouchables. I do agree that we have this problem and some Pashtuns do discriminate against the other ethnic groups (which was highlighted even more because of the Taliban), but compare our situation to that of Sri Lanka which "supposedly" has peace, and even India between Muslims and Hindus? Pashtuns are a majority in Afghanistan 45-50%, they are naturally going to have more influence than the other ethnic groups, this is simply natural law, some individuals who have issues between themselves will be discriminatory, but this does not mean those said individuals represent all of us, I am sure you understand.

All of that is merely propaganda which was pushed by the US pre-invasion, the war on Afghanistan was planned before 2001. Vilification of governments starts very early, you have to understand the American psyche.

For a society where law and order broke down and kidnappings were rife, some security measures needed to be taken, particularly to defend the vulnerable, namely women and children.

You have to understand the structure of the Taliban government, which is decentralized and run by commanders. Each region was autonomous and only loosely held together. Differing regions had differing laws, but were overseen by central leadership.

For example the Taliban governor of Bamiyan who destroyed the Buddha statues was relieved of his position and humiliated by the Taliban, but no Western media reported about that. Instead they used that rogue action to tarnish the whole group.

If you are going to criticize them, atleast be fair.

Ofcourse if the source of information is wrong, not much we can do about that.

As for the 2015 blasphemy incident, you know it is a big deal in the Muslim world and even false allegations can lead to violence. I dont know the specifics of this case, but obviously Afghan Kabul puppet regime failed to stop it. You can't blame a rebel group for the government's failures to institute law and order

I do understand that Afghans protect their guest with life, Mullah Omar did the same, but at a very high cost. His decision changed the course of history of Afghanistan. Whether good or bad, time will tell.

This is the nation which faced three super powers boldly, Britishers, USSR and US and its allies but suffered a lot in return.

My apprehension is that, very soon, Afghans will rise from ashes of continuous war hysteria and stand as one of the strongest nations of the world.

I admire the Taliban for their commitment to Islam and their conservative religious values. They know that modernism is the wrong path which is destroying the rest of the Muslim world. Pakistan too must return to the policy of chador aur char diwari. Modernist version of Islam advocated by Ghamidi and others is venomous. We want the Taliban version of Islam in Pakistan and the rest of the Muslim world.

Actually, socialism / communism has seen a resurgence in India since 2016 when the progressive students of JNU university in Delhi took charge and made socialism / communism fashionable again.

Among others, three of these students - Kanhaiya Kumar, Shehla Rashid and Umar Khalid, since 2016, have been active in various socio-political causes across the country.

You should watch this interview of Kanhaiya from May this year.

Also, there is also the Naxalite / Maoist movement ( Communist Party of India - Maoist ) in the Indian jungles and mountains from Nepal border in the North to Karnataka state in the South. This movement started in the 1960s and is now one of the longest running armed insurgencies in the world.
