Yanji is the capital of Yanbian ethnic Korean autonomous prefecture, this region is being called "The Thire Korea" after North Korea and South Korea.
Everything in Yanbian is bilingual in both Korean and Chinese, on trains and buses the public annoucements are also made bilingually.

I met some Korean Chinese from Yanbian when I lived in New York, what shocked me is that we struggle to understand each other, they basically can't speak Chinese and can only speak Korean, we need a lot of gesture language to try to understand each other, but still largely failed.
This is why when North Koreans cross the border river into China, all the villages on the Chinese side are also ethnic Korean villages, north Koreans just blend in and disappear.
