No worries.. This is our new strategy.. We and our media first point out negative things about CPEC.. Then you people ignore it because of your India Obsession.. Look here.. OP is a Pak media.. But no Pakistanis not even thinking what is its contents??..

Pakistani media is free to express their opinion ... permano bomb

International experts clearly say that Pakistani economy is stagnating due to communist style economic controls...these projects can very well be taken care of by private investors and contractors. Forcefully shoving Chinese loan scam down the nation throat is only being done so some politicians can mint money! What we need is investment liberalization and security to attract international capital. Not substandard projects forcefully shoved down nation throat in the false name of friendship. Chinese are here to do business, so will be anyone else. The fact that projects are going exclusively to China for no obvious competitive reasons is alarming.

Its very strange because only 1 power plant will be using thar coal where as all other will be using imported coal from Indonesia.

So Don't know why they making so many coal power plants when they have more cheaper option with les time frame.

Because coal is cheap..we have a lot of supply in Thar...power plants of imported coal can be retrofitted in future to use thar coal..and coal produces fly ash a very important building material. Right now, there is severe shortage of fly ash in Pakistan which is affecting our building industry.

that's some higher than Himalayas profit right there....all the cost of the few Pakistani taxpayers

Business is always business...only stupid sentimental awam things someone would invest their money for friendship...ironically this friendship only awaken recently....!

Coal is dirty energy and pollutes the environment. Pakistan should import electricity from Iran and Tajikistan while building Nuclear Power plants.

CASA-1000 is being built..and infrastructure upgrades are under way to increase energy imports from Iran..

Yes, if the newspaper info is false they must be sued and "susued" upon...

"The Chinese Manufacturing Miracle" is almost entirely coal fired gentleman.

I've seen the article, most of the stuff it presents does not make sense. Instead, the article in Dawn by Ishrat Hussain was more sensible. This one is apparently written to create a buzz.

Not a single post analyzing the actual content of the article :-)
well yes, this is true for thar coal, to kick start the project

but Thar investment is private venture so i would say the only relevant part is that the return is 34%, 9loans were taken by engro), which is very high yet surprisingly the price is just 8.4 units which is cheaper than most sources of power. this offer was given based upon first comers/risk takers. it is no longer offered any more as engro took the risk. now further bidding will be competitive

the bigger scandal was quaid-i-azam solar park where even higher returns were offered than withdrawn, now we have legal problems

Thar coal is low quality coal with very low heat content in it.. So only mine mouth projects are profitable.. So power plants using imported coals away from thar coal mines never can use thar coal profitably..

I think coal is needed for industrial units and manufacturing plants.
