Statement by the National Security Advisor

Recent Iranian actions, including a provocative ballistic missile launch and an attack against a Saudi naval vessel conducted by Iran-supported Houthi militants, underscore what should have been clear to the international community all along about Iran’s destabilizing behavior across the Middle East.

The recent ballistic missile launch is also in defiance of UN Security Council Resolution 2231, which calls upon Iran “not to undertake any activity related to ballistic missiles designed to be capable of delivering nuclear weapons, including launches using such ballistic missile technology.

These are just the latest of a series of incidents in the past six months in which Houthi forces that Iran has trained and armed have struck Emirati and Saudi vessels, and threatened U.S. and allied vessels transiting the Red Sea. In these and other similar activities, Iran continues to threaten U.S. friends and allies in the region.

The Obama Administration failed to respond adequately to Tehran’s malign actions—including weapons transfers, support for terrorism, and other violations of international norms. The Trump Administration condemns such actions by Iran that undermine security, prosperity, and stability throughout and beyond the Middle East and place American lives at risk.

President Trump has severely criticized the various agreements reached between Iran and the Obama Administration, as well as the United Nations – as being weak and ineffective.

Instead of being thankful to the United States for these agreements, Iran is now feeling emboldened.

As of today, we are officially putting Iran on notice.

With Trump's admin being the most Zionist occupied, Iran would be on the top of their list to attack. But the major contradiction is Iran allied with Russia, and Trump wants to play nice with Russia to drive a wedge between Russia and China. Will Putin sell out Iran for a few crumbs from the Yanks? Highly unlikely, Putin is too shrewd, he will not allow the yanks to run havoc in another Middle East country just because of a new stooge POTUS. The public bromance between Putin and Trump is obvious, Trump is such a hothead he'll distabilize the US with all the protests and uprisings, anything else Trump delivers to Russia is a bonus. Putin likes to keep his friends close, but his enemies even closer.

If Trump wants to defeat ISIS, he needs to deal with Iran. Plus, Trump's buddy Russia is also a buddy of Iran. Both Iran and Russia wants Assad to remain in power, while the Gulf states and Turkey want him to go. What is Trump going to do?

A valid point and in fact Trump's need of an hour is to counter Daesh... Working along with Iran on request of Russia won't be a bad idea to get matter resolved but since Trump's million dollar business comes from KSA it will not be as easy as we think or may be he thinks... suggestion welcomed

I think Iran has not broken any laws while they are developing their own weapons , like any sovreign nation

As part of their peace initiative they gave up on Nuclear waste / water etc in order to broker a peaceful future with President Obama , and that was accepted by world community

A deal is a deal , otherwise it will send wrong kind of message for future negotiation with any nation

Focus should be more on the 2 state formation for Israel / Palestine

I would not want an outsider, a supposedly NATO ally attacking Iran, even thought Iran might not be fully an ally of my country. What one does to your neighbour, you cannot know what will happen the next minute who he turns to.

I support a Middle East/ neighbourhood between Iran and Turkey and other nations where outsiders don't have the power and initiative to intervene.

1. Afghanistan government of talibans changed from anti shia & anti Iran into Northern Alliance dominated government which is Pro Iran and Shia power base / Tajik ( Iranian ) nationalism too

2. Saddam Hussein was the most anti Iranian and anti Shia. his reign was ended by the Iraq war and look who is in power now?? A shia dominated government which is heavily influenced by Iran.

3. Everyone knows hezbollah is supported by Iranians and they r very inflluential in Lebanon. the recent election of new government of lebanon has hezbollah backing that means in other words Iranian backing.

4. Syria is an on going issue. Iranian forces r in Syria and it is an open secret and they r there to support alvi government of Assad.

5. Egypt is becoming more friendly towards Iran than ever before.

6. Iranians and Russians jointly replaced US as a mediators between different factions of Syria war.

7. Iranian influence is getting stronger in neighboring Pakistan too. Many Pakistanis will no accept on this forum. they mostly end up talking about shia / sunni divide etc... but the fact is influence of iran is increasing and it doesnt necessarily means that Pakistanis r converting into shia e.g. Previous government of Asif Ali Zardari was dominated by liberal thinkers who were highly influenced by Iran, persian poetry, also it was partly shia supported government too, talks of joining cpec ( a project backed by China also known as OBOR). Also if we discuss about the future development of Iran- Pakistan relations depend on Arab world too ( it will be a long discussion we can have another thread over that )

8. Turkey was in the camp Of America and later jumped into Russian led Iranian camp.

Now what I believe is that Americans are deliberately losing out ground to Iranians so that there will be some kind of equilibrium of power between Iranian Shia vs Arabian Sunnis. Ex president Obama also talked about balancing the Middle East. Also the nature is also taking its course. once the Arabs were strong and powerful in those countries now Iranians are flexing muscles there . Arabs were strong because of pan arab nationalism but Iranians are using sectarian card of shiaism to counter it. I think that if US really attacks Iran then all those countries or the arc will be in flames and we shudnt forget that many muslim countries like Pakistan, Turkey, & Saudi Arabia has enough number of shia which can show their support to Iran. The points i have discussed r those which i think is happening and may b i m wrong and if so then pls inform me. there r more stuff but we can discuss it later thank you lets hope good for the future ...
