For so many Muslims, fasting and other rituals are for group thing, for outward appearance of piety.

Christians today make lot less noise about rituals. I wish we learn some of these good habits from Christians.

I did read his comments, but you can hardly deny that the everyday life of Muslims ae more dictated by an old book than practically every other religion. I still remember that a a child, many more women wore a headscarf or a hat when they go out thn today, in fact that last time I saw many women wearing a headgear was at the wedding this last weekend. But it was more like at the Royal Ascot.

I remember years back I broke my personal record for the 400 meter dash when I was fasting..I unsuccessfully tried to break my record on the 800m dash after taking a short rest. For the next 4 hours until iftar my mouth was as dry as a rock
