Will the BNP strike a deal with New Delhi

Reading the india times report first question comes to mind, did india get any document for their claims and the line of questioning?

If india did, then it could only be leaked by Awami League regime officials. Not that US knew about it but given new urgency on strategic pivot in Bangladesh, US need to think inner working of Awami League as party or regime. There are many in Awami League ready to harm US interest by selling out to india. Not to mention Indians are firing in all cylinders (as expected) to cull Washington desire to get foothold in Bangladesh.

While reading into news from Delhi and Washington strategic dance, one has to consider that India-US strategic dialogue is scheduled to be held on June 13th. Knowing how US and india for that matter make their move its not so out of line to ask the question if some of these news items are artificial hedge created to benefit respective position in upcoming gathering. Because not so long ago US policy on Bangladesh ran through Delhi under guise of 3D doctrine. Well time will tell.

Now that leak question is out of the way, what extent indian newspaper claims are true? There is no doubt US has new found strategic and military interest in Bangladesh. Extent of it something we don’t know yet. While lots of people cheering on the news, Bangladesh as a “nation state” or whatever left of it has to be careful to draw benefit from such importance, rather than fallen victim of geo strategic game. This part requires consideration of who, how, when where in our domestic politics and local stake holders and merits through analysis.
