Depends. Apart from these issues of resources. Are there major ideological differences? I have noticed that the North Indians tend to be more communal while the Southies are more laid back and open to different ideas. But perhaps this is my perception.

And are there major separatist groups active in South India? And by major I mean street and electoral power.

No.. But with growing disparities between different states in India, unless government come up with reforms where states have more power on the distribution and collection of taxes, the possibility of secessionist groups cropping up is very much there.. States like UP, Bihar, Bengal are dirt poor

South India is presently happy with whatever fund distribution that is being applied today. Its the fifteenth finance commission that could unfairly cut down our funds even further.

No, we are not happy with the current distribution. That should be changed. Ratio of central funds received to central taxes paid should be same for all states. Now it is 1.79 for UP, 0.25 for Kerala, 0.40 for Tamil Nadu, 0.49 for Karnataka. It is unacceptable.
