Will Pakistan Buy Turkey’s New Advanced Main Battle Tank?

Surely PA is searching for advance heavy weight main battle tank & the purpose is to check the foreign enemies. Turkies Altay MBT looks impressive but to know if its really worthed, PA will have to test Altay to its limits to knows its capability then the decision will be taken, also keep in mind Russia has started offering Pakistan defence hardware, it is possible that Russia could offer advance tanks to Pakistan as per Pakistan's requirement & Pakistan is operating Russian style tanks. So lets wait & see what happens.

They will buy some sub systems to upgrade AK1s

You must ask why Pakistan Army one of the intelligent and powerful armed forces in the world looking for turkey's upcoming Tank?

Any idea?

@SinoSoldier

Well ripped off technology not gonna help in quality isn't it?

Please describe in detail exactly what technology aboard those tanks were "ripped" off, how they were "ripped off", who provided the blueprints to be "ripped off", and credible sources to back that up.

Keeping one's options open has always been an earmark of military procurement process.

Well sure I could break it up for you.

Hull of the Type 99 MBT is very similar to the Soviet T-72, but is one meter longer. Vehicle is powered by a turbocharged diesel engine, developing 1 500 horsepower. This engine is based on the German MTU 871 Ka-501 technology.

The Type 99 tank is armed with a fully-stabilized ZPT98 125-mm smoothbore gun, fitted with a carousel-type autoloader. Both the main gun and the autoloader were copied from the Soviet/Russian designs.

Turret of the Type 99 has a Leopard 2A5-style wedge-shaped modular add-on explosive reactive armor.

When some one offered you a world's beater weapon system that too when you use its older version and have complete control over the issues and services that too with impressive price tag and transfer of technology (at some level) who with sane mind would choose totally different and unproven technology?

Will you? It's looks like other MBT for Pakistan is not an option but necessary. The way they keep lookin for MBT baffles me. Reason for that only Pakistan Army can explain. But for outsider like be I look at the obvious. That some things are not going well

Buying is impossible for price reasons but Turkey giving Pakistan license production or donating x amounts for againts some black technology may very well happen.

The serial produktion bid not even announced now. How can you know the price. We should wait for the serial produktion. I am sure if pakistan want it they can produce it under licence . I can not understand the weight problem. Us and the westen countrys are using their heavy mbt worldwide with out any problem even in deser region.

And the B787 is very similar to the A350. And the 737MAX is very similar to the A320neo. And the Japanese Type 90 is very similar to the Leo 2A4. I hope you got my point.

All products of engineering that serve the same underlying purpose will exhibit, to some degree, commonality because the principles that govern engineering do not vary or change.

Both the main gun and the autoloader were copied from the Soviet/Russian designs.

Can you provide credible sources to back that up, and, if available, the complete blueprints of both systems as to do a comparison?

Arrow-shaped armor design is neither a patented design nor exclusive to the Leopard 2.

We don't even know if the Chinese offered their Type 99 series for export. The tanks that Pakistan currently use are unrelated to the Type 99, and hence any performance or design issues (which have not been commonly reported) shouldn't be extrapolated onto the tank. All military purchases start off with a review of competing systems, and hence just because one system was put in the media spotlight does not mean the other platforms suddenly do not matter.

Both the Altay and Type 99 are "unproven" tanks, and whether they are or not is irrelevant to and independent of their performance in combat.
