Will Mumbai finally surpass Shanghai this year?

For above to happen, the odds are same as in the following picture:

Your photo of the Mumbai skyline is photoshopped. How embarrassing...:rofl::rofl:

If you are gonna post fake photos of Mumbai, at least give it more effort. Here, let me help you. This is Mumbai in 2020:

Can we get back to reality please? This is Shanghai TODAY:

My advice is this: before trying to be 'incredible', Indians should first try to be credible.

:omghaha::omghaha::omghaha::omghaha::omghaha:

This is just total lack of integrity. Another example that reminded me of a post that referred that even the people in the darkest part of Africa has more integrity than Indians. And you show why.

To be honest, even the fake photo of Mumbai doesn't look impressive at all. It has just a few mid-rises and some apartment blocks. Even fourth-tier Chinese cities look far more impressive.

Here's information on how Chinese cities are categorized into tiers:
China's Cities Classification

Here are a few examples of China's fourth-tier cities:
Wenzhou

And because Manmohan Singh declared Shanghai to be a direct competitor of Mumbai, let's look at some more photos of Shanghai:

Nothing new, "lying" is their 2nd line of defense after failure in bragging as predicted, their 3rd line will be coming as well
Back to the topic "The transformation of Shanghai from 1987 to 2013"
Perhaps Indian friends will kindly shed some light of the development of Mumbai within similar time frame?

How can India match Shanghai's progress when Mumbai has trouble matching fourth-tier Chinese cities?

Like I said before, Mumbai should set realistic goals. Try catching up with some African cities such as Nairobi or Lagos by 2040. After that's achieved, then let Mumbai catch up with Pretoria, South Africa by 2060.

@tw00tw00 Why do you always mention Shanghai in PDF?

I found this amazing video of 11 Chinese cities. All Indians members should watch this to get an idea of the huge gap between China and India. Not one Indian city has any hope of catching any of the Chinese cities in this video in the next 30 years:

. .
Again, Talk is cheap, since you mentioned 30 years, 2017+30= 2047; most of us in this forum here will still be alive, I am willing to wait till 2047 for India to catch up, not to China's level at that time, but to China's level of Today, is that fair enough? go kick your government starts working on all the mentioned above ie. Economy, public health and hygiene.....for all your top 100 cities!! the reason I did not add the infrastructure, because, if you get all above done, you need the infrastructure to support it, it will come naturally!

Call your MP, government official, local politician....!
I am willing to wait, anyone who wish India will be as good as China, give me a thumbs up! Let's wait!!!

the above comment is #357 at page 24

I can never understand why India is so obsessed with China. Was Manmohan Singh stupid? Did he have any idea what Shanghai was like? Did he have any idea how far behind Mumbai is compared to Shanghai?

Why doesn't India set realistic goals? Why not let Mumbai catch up with some African cities such as Nairobi or Lagos by 2040? After that's achieved, then let Mumbai catch up with Pretoria, South Africa by 2060.

Allow me to be a contrarian, this is not a place at which I wish to live. I prefer open space with a small house, wood burning stove and a vegetable patch. :)

Some predictions do come true: India will overtake China in population by 2022. There's no hope for India if it doesn't control its population.
whatever India gain will be swallowed by the population! no hope!!

hahaha, wood burning stove cause so much problem, the chimney will catch fire very often and cause pollution. vegetable patch that I agree!!

.
I think first Mumbai must provide 24/7 water and electricity to all before thinking about overtaking Shanghai...

where are all Indian friends here, how come no one come and agree or disagree with me here, because they know it could not be done? 30 years is a long time, China can do it, India sure can too, have some guts, say "we can do it"; "we will force the gov. to build a better country...."
