MBS reminds me a lot of Aurangzeb and fate of Mughal Dynasty in India.
To ascend the Mughal throne, Aurangzeb outmanoeuvred his three brothers as well, plus imprisoned his father. We all know what happened next.

Will MbS story head in the similar direction ? Personally I like him, from what I have heard of him but the skeptic in me tells me that this purge won't end well. Feel free to share your thoughts.

MbS is in a very secure political position, I doubt he will be leaving his post anytime soon.

So was Auranzeb. I am waiting to see how tribal affiliations in the Saudi Military pans out. US Military must be working overtime to keep them "organised".

.........

Why just Aurangzeb? Brother against brother was a feature of almost every Mughal succession.

Arrrgghhh....Why couldn't you put in the full name? Mohammed Bin Salman...

Well I think its extremely exciting to see nonetheless the machinations in order to gain absolute power in one of the most significant countries in the world ....His Vision 2030 will fail though as there is no way the lazy princes and officials' sons would start coding when they can hoon the streets on Supras,911 Turbos and Huracans........real innovation happens from desperation of the educated middle class.....and it would be tough to pull off in a country with low average IQ which is giving up a lot of ground to other low IQ countries like India,Pakistan and Brazil

the inching up of oil prices mean the Vision 2030 will soon become Vision 2050..

and if he is really Aurangzeb , then expect him to be 50 years in power...and with his death will come the final destruction of the Saudi Kingdom....the Houthi rebels being the Arabian Marathas

Ottoman successions were way more brutal than in the other gunpowder empires

None of the succession was as dramatic .

There was plenty of drama, but IMO Aurangeb's succession is covered in more detail in popular history.

Humayun fought against most of his brothers, then allied with them, then fought them again. Akbar threw his foster brother off the palace walls- twice. Jahangir rebelled against his father and had a savage, to the death fight against his brothers. He then blinded one of his own sons who had rebelled against him. Shah Jahan blinded his eldest brother in his turn, and fought a number of fratricidal battles. And there's Aurangzeb's case. After Aurangzeb, there was a huge 4 way fight to see who would succeed as Emperor.

In fact, IIRC, succession in the Mughal empire was based on whoever could grab the throne, the devil take everyone else. I've read somewhere that since Akbar, daughters of the Emperor were forbidden to marry to avoid potential competition from the girl's children.

Anyway all of this is OT, and m last on the subject. Don't want to derail the thread.

Who is Zinde Pir Alemgir Aurangzeb, and who is this proxy scum???? These desert rats aren't even worth those great Sultans' dischagre from toilets....

Don't spill out your inner hatred towards Aurangzeb by twisting history.

He Died on his Bed in 1707 not in War or dethroned and ruling the largest Mughal Empire ever.

I take my words back. MbS is in a very secure position. It will be very interesting to see how next decade pans out as what happens in Saudi reverberates in the whole "muslim" world .

I'd say he has an easy life ahead of him. Long gone is the time when the western world had turned a blind eye towards the regimes and their stone age laws and to counter this MBS has made some pretty good preparations by already aligning himself with western standards, although I'm sure he's as rotten as all the others.
