I have followed NY Times readers' 'comments' about this crisis and the distinct impression I got was that Russia is mostly correct in protecting its interests, especially wrt to the Nato presence on its border. That is a 'liberal' space at times and I tend to agree with their reasoning.
Ukraine should be split up along ethnic lines.
