How can you Indian film industry as india's alone? Its south aisa's common film industry when its audience is spread across whole of south asia and artists of different south asian countries working in it.Indians has this bad habit to claim all heritage as theirs when its common heritage.Indians are too clever by half by calming bollywood as theirs only.

Ajtr Bhai,

I agree with your basic sentiment of "sharing" and not "claiming everything for oneself".

However your argument does not seem very sound to me.

For example, people come from all over the world work to work in Silicon Valley for American companies that sell their products to people all over the world. Now you will argue that those companies should not be called "American", but rather "Global" because (i) people from all over the world work for them and (ii) they sell their products all over the world.

And you would be right, they are indeed Global companies rather than American companies. But what makes them Global is the fact that these companies actually operate large branches (not just sell) in numerous countries all over the world.

So to return to your issue of whether Bolleewudd is Indian or Indo-pak, the key test is this: Do any of the bolleewudd companies have large studios, development centers, design branches in Pakistan?

If the answer is "yes", then yes, Bolleewudd can truly be called "South Asian".

If the answer is "no", then the fact that Pakistani thespians go to India to work for Bolleewudd companies and that Pakistanis watch (legally or illegally) Bolleewudd movies does not automatically imply anything.

You can try using other examples yourself, say involving China & industries in the United States, and you will see what I mean.

For bolleewood to become "South-Asian", bolleewood production companies must be allowed to open large branches and hire people in the other South-Asian countries.

Until that happens, I am afraid, Bolleewood will remain parochially Indian.

LOL at the thread. The Pak film industry or LOLLYWOOD (lol at the name too) died long back. Making 10 to 12 films an year cant be called industry to begin with.

I am afraid more people may turn to extrimism due to absence of cricket and films. I don't see any form of entertainment for Pak people. I'm sorry for them.
