Chidambaram or for that matter most politicians dont do much,

Most of the work is done by the civil service guys and Home/Finance/Foriegn/defence get the best ones always.

If at all anything politicians screw up the good work done by the civil service.

That way politicians do best by doing nothing.

There are of course many exceptions to this rule and they are just exceptions.

Does anyone here believe that Lalu was responsible for the Railways doing well?

Even if we have a perfect babu with his perfect organization, the achievements will remain in a single area and would never percolate to all departments. Leaders are people who influence to take a country/state in a direction they desire. No one is in a better position to do that than a politician.

BTW he is from Kanadukathan in Tamil Nadu and did his schooling from the Madras Christian College..

On subject - don't expect any major economic reforms from his tenure. Next budget will be the last one of UPAII so that will probably an 'aam aadmy' budget without any tough reforms... but I hope he will take some extra measure to push our economy from this mess..

We will miss chidambram because:

1. He used to take daily meetings with intelligence chiefs.

2. He is instrumental in providing best equipments, uniform and weapons to the paramilitary.

3. Morale of our forces were high due to the fact that minister is behind them.

4. Anti Maoist operations and eliminating 12 of the total 16 top Maoists or arresting them.

5. Increasing about 500 border out post in the international border with pakistan, Bangladesh, Myanmar

6. Recruiting over 100,000 new troops

7. NSG Hubs all over India and NSG equipped with much needed technologies and fire power.

8. Busting IMs sleeper cells.

9. He still says the police was right in killing the terrorists at Batla Haouse.


The list of his good work is very long.


But he was a bastard too he was playing dirty politics and introduced so called fake Hindu terrorism.

Here come on the changes where brought by him? My foot they were necessary after the 26/11. This guy never did anything to the credit u are all giving. The Maoist role? Come on guys U all should know better that it was the result of very long term effort of so many people. The Terror Attacks have decreased because there is change Over all political diplomacy in International level.
We still dont know wat the NIA is doing and in fact all our police force lack basic equipment.... Under staffed . Leave the police force our Anti terror agency is not prepared to face the real threat..... We all forget how he created the Saffron Terror.

Chidu has a professional and no nonsense approach to the job which is difficult to do if you are home minister.
Remember home minister has to coordinate with state govts, because policing is a state subject.
He was okey HM but better than most others.
