Why we are an underdeveloped third world country

What bigotry and what false pride? Is hatred of evil bigotry? Is love of honesty pride? Who concocted the lies and the propaganda? The people without the resources to write books and too busy with backbreaking work to feed their family or the people at the helm of affairs? What honesty is preserved if the fox that raided the hen's house is given the role of the story teller and he proceeds to extol the virtue of raids he did and how he did a service to the poor hen by raiding her house and eating off her chickens?

They say truth cannot be hidden for long nor falsehood rule for ever. One way to differentiate who is the truth teller and who is the liar can be seen from the consequence of following their truth or their lies. There are 2 ends of the spectrum. You have WB which believed it has eschewed false pride and bigotry and was following the truth and virtue far away from concocted lies and propaganda. You have Gujarat where they have believed in the so called concoctions and indulged in false pride.

You can see in the results of how people of these states behave and how they are received by the rest of the world. Both in India and abroad, which community does better is for anyone to see.

You think ideology has no bearing on practical life? It molds the thinking of the society. It ignites the drive to achieve greater glory or to pummel to the depths of self-hatred. An ideology which excessively focuses on curing itself of false pride keeps binding itself in just about every angle. Loses its freedom to think and behave as a free being least it become enslaved by false pride.

Gujaratis are free of this constant fight with false pride. This reflects in their attitude to advance themselves, in their enterprising mindset. While Bengalis are forever fighting to not raise above their station least they be victims of false pride.

I agree with the title of the thread but one has to look the efforts we people made during last 10 years for a change. I distinctively remember 10-15 years earlier everyone wanted to do Govt jobs as private sector was close to nil. Later on IT and foreign bank came and we started to move to private sectors leaving Govt Jobs.Education is the key now. We are spending hell lot of money in education sector but one will have to make out something from it.Central govt should be corruption free and GDP should be above 8 % for coming 5 to 10yrs.Invest on infrastructure and health care. It is not so that we wont be able to come out of third world country tag but in our case it is going to take some time as we have a very big country and very big population.I think next 20 years are going to very crucial for us but I am very optimistic that we can come out of it.

Real answer : We're overpopulated. the max population we can have is 750 million. including refugees and "aliens".

Imagine what we have and distribute it among 500 million, ideal it would be. 500 million is a HUGE number for a country india's size. and enough.

India is a country which started from scratch after attaining independence. But as years passed we grew as a country and brought about a lot of reforms which made us grow in various ways. I don't know how to put this but i will try

When Pakistanis brag about Mumbai attacks, we call them extremists . When terrorists kill innocent people we blame their religious affiliation . and yet strangely we have Indians and several others justifying the bombardment of civilians in Gaza , making fun of the drone strikes killing civilians in Pakistan and attempting to justify other things just because they were done by countries they either live in or countries they support . You see , there is deeper problem here , and its not religion .
