Thy are not really allies, but partners . Ally also help each other during fights especially when push comes to shoves militarily or at least diplomatically. China never backed Russias involvement in Syria neither did they send ANY SORT OF MILITARY HELP whatsoever. LOL China still doesn't recognise Russia illegal annexation of Crimea from a sovereign country Ukraine. China still doesn't recognise Russian backed separatists groups declaration of independence in Eastern Ukraine (Donbass and lugansk) only Russia and its few vassal states do(Syria and Belarus for obvious reasons. Lol). Neither does China support Russias invasion of Ukraine (in fact they are against it funny enough and their foreign minister explicitly said Ukraines sovereignty should be respected and its always been China's policy) and they have not sent even a single piece of military help to Russia for their invasion of Ukraine. If this is what it means to be allies, then I might as well have just partners.
China only recognised Russias legitimate security concerns(which is normal giving they are on fairly good terms) and that's it. Lol They will obviously continue trading and signing contracts with Russia since it benefits them enormously and its good for their economy. They couldn't asked for anything better than that, since Russia will have to be much more flexible towards China , as they will be in a position of weakness after western isolation and sanctions. Afterall where else can they look to? Lol A WIN-WIN for China. Lol The Chinese don't lose anything here, They are more of an economic/business minded country unlike the war like country like Russia used to foreign military adventures and conquering, so the stakes for China are higher, reason they prioritise a peaceful environment regardless of provocations and hostile environment. Russia by contrast his more of ailitary and industrial power and they don't have much trade with the world apart from selling their resources and Soviet era arms industry leftovers . So they have little considerations for wars unlike China.
