Average height of Kannadigas & Telugu speaking people is 5'7. Kerala partially can be accepted. But even for Kerala average height, I would say is 5'8 or may be 5'9 not 5'10 unless I see recent stats to confirm it.

You are comparing punjabis from well off families. The poor ones cant afford good diets.

The data is from 2001. Lot has changed since then.
Mallus and telugus are the tallest in India imo. I am not a south Indian. But I can easily say from what I have seen. There many short punjabis in punjab. At 5'9 i felt above average in Punjab. If one punjabi out of 10 is around 6'3 does not make them all tall.
