Why should Swati resign for ‘sins’ committed by Rafique, says Fawad

PR major chunk goes to pension .... siasi bharitian has killed railway.

Yep, Rs36 billion just for pension. Its not just railways but federal and provinces both are wasting billions on useless employees including their pensions. Result is no money is left for development.

PML-N leader in response asks govt to not play with lives of travellers and take steps for improvement of railways

Federal Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry has said that incumbent railways minister cannot be blamed for the “incompetence” of his predecessor, PML-N leader Khawaja Saad Rafique.

“Why should Azam Swati [railways minister] resign over the sins committed by Saad Rafique,” he said while addressing a press conference in Islamabad after train collision incident which claimed the lives of at least 40 passengers and left dozens injured.

The minister claimed that the due to the lack of investment by the previous governments all institutions including railways were in tatters.

Fawad said PTI-led government was the first in country that initiated mega ML-1 project for the up-gradation of the railways.

The minister said that investigation into the cause of incident was underway and as soon as any headway was made the findings would be made public.

Former railways minister Rafique expressed regret over the minister’s allegations, saying that the time was not appropriate for mudslinging.

The PML-N leader in a video statement urged the government to “not play with the lives of travellers” and take steps for improvement of the railways.

He said the PTI-led government had destroyed the railways and did not do any work for its improvement.

Rafique said the ML-1 project was initiated during the last tenure of PML-N under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and added that the project was delayed due to the incompetence of incumbent rulers.

A collision between two passenger express trains in Sindh's Ghotki district killed at least 40 people and injured scores more on Monday, with the death toll likely to rise as rescuers were still trying to access several mangled coaches.

According to Pakistan Railway (PR) officials, the collision occurred between the Millat Express, which was en-route from Karachi to Sargodha and Sir Syed Express, coming from Rawalpindi. The mishap occurred between Raiti and Obaro railway stations.

A spokesperson of PR added that the accident occurred after the coaches of one train, the Millat Express, derailed and fell across the opposite track, where they were hit by another train, the Sir Syed Express.

Its not just Sins of Raffique but Swati, and many who came before these two because Railway today stands somewhat same as decades ago..

PM IK needs to hold the minister and ministry accountable for this fiasco, you can't have two standards.

Ch. Fawwad is wrong here, ML-1 expansion and upgradation was initiated by PMLN. Instead of deflecting and passing ills on previous government, he should introspect a bit, and accept negligence of his own government. It's been almost 3 years since PTI has come into power, they should start taking responsibility for their own faults.

Here,
With all due respect ML-1 was a good project but lines are based on still same technologies and then trains are still comprised of old arse engines and carriages

That is bigotry to the idiotic proportions. For how long these idiots will keep blaming the previous governments for their own corruption, mismanagement, incompetency? It's almost three years now that this government is running the country. Because of the incompetency of Asad Omar, Pak economy was ruined and these liars kept blaming previous government for the steep down fall of our economy. Shame on them.

There are reports that some official wrote a letter to the concerned authorities weeks ago about the worsening condition of the rail track but no action was taken. No one really cared about the life of passengers.

How many times the railway minister has gone in the field during his tenure? Fawad Chaudhry shoud be ashamed of himself for utterly lying and defending an incompetent railways minister. These idiots think people have no brain and they believe whatever the non-sense comes out of their mouth.

This is not just one example. Talking of the interior ministry, we are continuously losing scores of FC officials in terrorist attacks in Balochsitan and PKK. How many times this idiot Sheikh Rasheed has gone to meet the FC officials in those provinces? Much less then that, tell me just one statement that he has issued a stateme in support of the affected units/families and telling the nation of steps being taken to deal with terror attacks. Sheikh Rasheed is one of the worst interior ministers that Pakistan ever had.

May Allah (SWT) help us rid of these jokers and liars and bless us with real leadership.

Orange train was provincial project, Federal government has nothing to do with it.
yes that is why khatti train is a electoral move which shows that, it was done at the cost of national interest as highlighted by Javaid Chaudhry's column. IF mian's party had bothered with making ML-1 priority than today genuinely people would be doing wah mian ji wah. But it wasn't to be.
I am utterly disappointed by this question.
okay.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.

I am not well versed in the upgradation plans for the project, and whether they have envisaged incorporating modern technologies or not. But any upgrade on the current system is highly appreciated.

Hopefully, @TheNoob can help us out with the specifics, as he seems to be knowledgeable on the subject.

Lolx so only because he has been in ministries for others that makes him incompetent? If he has worked in portfolios he was assigned then he should be appreciated.. being a lota is a separate issue as for Sheeda talli he his all talk no action type of a person.

I remember our railway minister Prabhu resigned when a foot over bridge collapsed for taking overload. This is a straight incompetence without accountability.
