Russia has huge economy. Enough money to complete Su-57 project. India buy Su-57 to replace Su-30MKI. They have no other choice.
India spends around the same amount of funds yearly on defense as Russia. And the Indian economy is around 70% bigger. I don't think that the size of a country's economy has any bearing here though.
You are right btw. Russia will probably complete and field the Su-57 project, a lot of money and resources have already gone into it. Their initial estimates on the number of aircraft might not materialize though (mostly because there are far bigger priorities right now).
India has almost completely abandoned the FGFA project, and has certainly withdrawn all funding from it. I don't know whether they will choose to purchase the aircraft later (when it is more mature), but this is far from saying that they have no other choice, really.
