Instead of debating which “type” of armed forces we should have and taking sides. You people need to realize that both things are equally important. Just money and orders aren’t enough motivation for any nation or army to fight. Most use patriotism. Pakistan uses both religion and patriotism, so it excels in the motivational side of War fighting (or rather ideally it does, since we can only look at it from that perspective).
At the same time it is also now focusing towards Modern equipment and tactics and despite financial shortcomings, indigenous development is helping it achieve that at a very rapid pace. (Including the Navy and AF. While the AF has been slowly modernizing itself as it gets newer jets, the navy has recently ordered More ships and submarines that have ever been in service in our navy at any given time.)
We need the best of both worlds. And while it is true that the new generation of officers is slightly moving away from the religious side of things, I believe that is positive too, as even Islam teaches us to use common sense and not underestimate enemies. That’s why we’ve been told to stay prepared for them. How good or bad a persons islam is, that’s not our place to judge. And most officers are educated enough to know what their religion is thankfully.
All in all. We need to excel on both sides. Modern tactics and equipment and motivation through religion and patriotism. Both have proved to be equally important in the past. Wether it be Badr, 65’, War on terror and so on.
And for now it seems that we are working on getting close to that. So instead of debating between one or the other, accept both as equally important.
TLDR; Just “Jazba-I-Emani” ain’t gonna win us jack shit. At the same time, a soldier with every modern weapon in the world is useless if he has no motivation to fight.
