Why Pakistan banned Movie "haider"?

. . . . .
There is nothing anti-India or pro-Pakistan or even pro-Kashmir in the movie. I have watched it multiple times and have yet to find any fore-mentioned rhetoric.

Its a simple adaptation of the Bard's Hamlet, using Kashmir as the restive backdrop to delve into the Oedipus complex of the protagonist and his thirst for revenge against his father's killer! If you ask me, depiction of Kashmir's political landscape was kind of pretty close enough as to what it actually was during the time. No heroes, no villains except for the principal characters.

but hey, how many people would actually understand the intricacies of The Bard's plays even if presented with dumbed down, abridged versions of them!!
I'll take your word for it friend, I haven't seen the movie nor do I plan to. I do agree that many seem to have ignored the fact it was an adaptation of Hamlet or simply weren't aware of this fact.

Yea i was waiting for it because i dont like mainstream masala type indian movies..always prefer different concept or unique story than these big budget crap but was dissapointed with ban

There must be some chawal in censor board
watch ankhon dekhi. its not big budget masala movie..but never boring (I like most movies of Rajat Kapoor)
I dont read the reviews, I like the story to unfold and dont like any hint as to what to expect.

Because it somehow portrays the problem on a human level ??? takes the jingoism away ???

Because people won't get the point that the story is preset ? "Hamlet" ?

kashmir is just incidental ?

also that indians can make such a raw movie and digest it ? about kashmir ?

take your pick !

I do highly recommend the movie. Its not perfect, but it sure is compelling. If you liked any of Vishal Bhardwaj's previous works, then you will surely like this one. Three scenes really stand out...the first, of course is the speech in the village square, the next is the song where haider is accusing his uncle of the murder, wonderfully choreographed, and the last but not least was the song and sequence where he discovers his gf's suicide. The best part, undoubtedly, is Irfan Khan's role as the ghost! Simply brilliant.

Well, if true, this is pretty surprising. Haider was being touted as anti-Indian on here and many Pakistanis seemed very eager to see it, looking at the plot it would seem like a would-be blockbuster in Pakistani cinemas.

RAW you beauty ;)
Exactly my thoughts. I saw the movie and wish Pakistanis could see it
