Why Modinomics Will Face Socialist Roadblock

Well where will the income come from. A few tea stalls and advertisement hoardings cannot pay for the upkeep of an ultramodern railway platform as you propose.
Aren't malls making crores? Convert all big stations into private malls. A certain percentage of profits should then be plowed back into its upkeep. This is the only way you can have world class facilities.

Here's an example....

Better to think of utilising that land, usually located at a central, desirable area & build large office complexes, probably including malls & cinemas in them. Go vertical.

India has some of the crapiest railways among the major economies in terms of quality, hygiene, speed and safety.

Do you expect the government to improve this without any more money to invest?!

Well I was wondering if the same kinda understanding would have been shown had UPA increased the fares??

Thats all I wanted to know.

NO.
Reason:
1. They were in power for 10 years, if they didn't do it then why would they do it now?Intent matters.
2. in UPA-II they were free of Left baggage. They even managed to pass Nuke Bill, what was stopping them from tough railway reform.
3. Rate increase should have been proactive and in small quanta , IN ALL SPHERES OF POLICY FROM DEFENSE TO ECONOMICS, UPA HAS BEEN REACTIVE.HENCE A MASSIVE JUMP THAT TOO VERY LATE.
Look at what they did to Air India. AI is in a loss of 30,000 cr and railways is in 40,000 crores.
We needed to kick them out.

I have yet to understand the logic behind this...if they were reforming then why could not we understand it??

Air India was in shambles even before UPA government came on board. It all started with the merger of Air India and Indian airlines.

Btw the decision about railway fare hikes was taken by UPA government and executed by BJP...and that answers my questions..

I know UPA proposed it. They should have spread it out in negligible quanta over 10 years.
As far as AI is concerned read this
Ex-minister Praful Patel forced Air India to buy excess aircraft : India, News - India Today

I quote
Patel's controversial decision proved to be the proverbial millstone for the airline which is still straddled with a debt burden of more than Rs.40,000 crore and an estimated loss of around Rs.7,000 crore. Till the 2003-2004 fiscal, AI was making a profit of around Rs.105 crore.
and this...

It is true that after the inflated proposal was cleared by the aviation ministry, the EGoM approved the purchase of 50 aircraft on firm basis and 18 for official low-cost Air India Express. But the documents with Mail Today show the ministry had kept the EGoM in the dark about the objections to the proposal by its financial adviser.
