Why Isn’t Indonesia Seeking China’s Funding for Its New Capital?

Resources are already spread thinly. As original posts states money needs to be lent from abroad. I had this debate before, Indonesians dont care about the costs because they have been convinced that project will be an instant success.

Yes, and as I have stated in my post, that is why the government is seeking investment from non governmental bodies. Indonesia does not care about the cost, because the potential development opportunities that it may bring outweigh the cost.

To name some of them would be the development of Borneo island, separate cities for running the country and its economy, potential transmigrasion from crowded Java island, etc etc. For Indonesia, the cost benefit analysis goes beyond money.

no lah, there is no instant success in this story, Indonesia itself had moving their capital three times already, first Yogyakarta, then Bukit tinggi and then Jakarta. All in all, Jakarta is the central of economy, industry, culture and military power during Dutch era and continue to be so during almost all of Indonesian years as a country. The new capital will be build gradually and will be in concerted effort to emulated the story of many movements capital around the world including Malaysian Putra Jaya and Brazil Brassilia.

Fair enough. You have your opinion and I have mine. Theres gonna be some rich Indonesians that will be richer. I respect your opinion, I realise how things work in this world. The masses in decades to come will be complaining about poor infrastructure in rest of country, similar to today. I will visit Indonesia this year, if the country has good infrastructure like Malaysia (been there last year) then I will agree new city needs building. Will I be suprised about Indonesia?

Sorry if post is hard to read. Rushed typed it

I have been to different countries as well and I am not biased enough to say that Indonesia has a good infrastructure that could impress anyone the way people are impressed of lets say European infrastrcuture. But again that is the whole point of having massive infra projects, which is to improve its infrastructure.

Point I am making resources will be diverted from other areas. Indonesia is a difficult country to run due to the many islands, big and small. I wish them luck, but greed is more powerful then love of own country. Respect
