Pakistan is all set to go to the United Nations with a long list of complaints against India. Pakistan has taken strong exception to the statement made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi that India had played a part in the break up of Pakistan during the 1971 Liberation War. India however is not too perturbed by this development and says that let Pakistan clean up its act first. We are capable of providing Pakistan with a good response in the UN, a senior official in government informed.
The officer also informed that the improved ties between India and Bangladesh has not gone down too well with Pakistan and hence it wants to rake up non-issues before the UN.
Pakistan’s list of grievances ::
While Pakistan has decided that it would complain to the UN about the statement made by the Indian PM in Bangladesh. Sartaj Aziz the foreign affairs advisor to the Pakistan Prime Minister said today that India had acknowledged the intervention in the 1971 liberation war. The statement by Modi only points out that India is doing everything to destabilize Pakistan, Aziz also said. Further he accused India of trying to drive a rift between Pakistan and Bangladesh. Pakistan has also decided to complain to the UN about the unprovoked aggression along the Line of Control.
India not perturbed ::
India says that these are desperate measures by Pakistan. They are not able to deal with the problem they have created over the years. Pakistan finds itself in a difficult situation as most of the terrorists it had created have turned against them. More importantly the close ties between India and Bangladesh have not gone down too well with Pakistan. During the visit to Bangladesh, the Indian Prime Minister had signed several pacts which would ensure continued cooperation by the two nations on several fronts. Pakistan has always attempted to use Bangladesh as a second home to fight its proxy war.
The creation of the Harkat-ul-Jihadi Islami and the funding of the Jamaat ul Mujahideen Bangladesh were all aimed at targeting India. It was in the year 2006 that Pakistan’s spy agency the ISI decided that it would have a sister concern of the Lashkar-e-Tayiba in Bangladesh. It decided to strengthen the HuJI in a bid to target attacks against India.
The crackdown in Bangladesh ::
The Bangladesh government under the Awami League has taken a host of measures to ensure that there is no terrorism on their soil. Over the past couple of months with the help of the Indian agencies, the Bangladesh government has managed to neutralize several elements threatening security both in Bangladesh and India. Further the decision by both India and Bangladesh to curb the smuggling of counterfeit currency has also hurt Pakistan.
The ISI controlled fake Indian currency racket is a major money spinner. While India had managed to curb this menace which was taking place through the Indo-Pak border, Pakistan decided to change its route. The currency was sent through Bangladesh and would land in West Bengal before it was circulated to the rest of the country.
