Why is Kashmir such an emotional issue for Pakistanis?

I had this question popped up this afternoon when I saw there was a thread opened on atrocities faced by kashimiri pundits and immediately got deleted. and then someone opened another thread on Kashmiri students harassed by Indian police. I am not saying they should not open thread...but my curiosity grew when I saw this...because..

There is always a bias..and i can not question that..but I have seen great level of tolerance on very sensitive topics such as religion, Pakistani military, China etc...

but when it comes to Kashmir..there comes the axe immediately...

please spare me from rapes, murders, this and that..kashmir issue is not new..and those issues were not there pre-90s..why Kashmiri issue is so emotional to you guys? any matured replies please....

Kashmir issue seems to be more emotional for India. Anyone who says something pro Kashmiri in India automatically faces the wrath of Hindu extremists.

He's a relative of mine and he said something about Kashmir, next day he got death threats.

So Pakistan really wants Kashmir for itself. Then is Pakistan talking of Kashmiri independence is just a farce?

ok..such a sensitive topic u have started...i want to give an example first before inking my points..u guyz must have read abt these but i want u to repeat it again...

An ingenious example of speech and politics occurred recently in the
United Nations Assembly that made the world community smile..

A representative from India began: 'Before beginning my talk I want to
tell you something about a rishi named Kashyapa of Kashmir (Kashyapa,
son of Marichi, son of Brahma), after whom Kashmir is named.

When he struck a rock and it brought forth water, he thought, 'What a
good opportunity to have a bath.' He removed his clothes, put them
aside on the rock and entered the water. When he got out and wanted to
dress, his clothes had vanished. A Pakistani had stolen them.'

The Pakistani representative jumped up furiously and shouted, 'What are
you talking about? The Pakistanis weren't there at that time.'

The Indian representative smiled and said, 'And now that we have made
that clear, I will begin my speech.'

"................And they say Kashmir belongs to them."

now coming back to the discussion, Pakistan always considers itself as the leader of Islamic world, it is not only Kashmir, be it Palestinian's wrath, they feel their pain too, its all because of Muslim brotherhood...u want to be a leader then u have to take ur stand for the justice...its their ideology.

Two logical mistakes in this story:

1. If there was no pakistan at the time of Kashyapa it means no one stolen his clothes and his story is false.

2. And if you are saying kashmir belongs to india because it is named after a hindu Kashyapa then Allahabad is named after Allah and ahmedabad is named after a muslim Sultan Ahmed Shah so they belongs to pakistan.

In short your story is false and your logics are stupid.

because our blood is divided !! half the Kashmiris here and half there.

Accept the fact....Kashmir is just a pawn in the chess board of 2 arch rival called India and Pakistan..No ones is really give a damn about what people or any thinks...Just lip service and time pass..India can not leave Kashmir becoz it will threaten its mainland of India will be threatened with Islamic religious Kashmir in top of its head...Pakistan can not leave becoz it thinks ..Kahsmir is an unfulfilled agenda in the partition...This problem can only be solved ..when Pakistan will attack India and either Pak will loose the war and loose the Pak occupied kashmir..or India will loose the war and India will loose Kashmir...

So as long as Pak is not attacking India.. India will simply take its own time as India is better situation in stand off situation as it is now...And pak will wait for its time to attack India..So till that point ...both army from India and Pakistan will keep on consuming significant amount of money out of out budget..and enjoy the show..

And why is that.. Does Pakistan have a Intellectual property right registered for all things related to Islam.. ? Dont forget there are almost as many, if not more Muslims in India as there are in Pakistan...

I am a Kashmiri and my acceptors were the first ones to start the Kashmiri liberation movement. It is emotional for me to see that my ancestors were hanged and at the end of the day their dreams were not fulfilled.

yes his story was self cooked and u just sounds like the same pakistani representative i mentioned in the speech..its not about authenticity of the story..its about the claim which pakistan was making about kashmir..he just used the story as a trap.

2. And if you are saying Kashmir belongs to India because it is named after a Hindu Kashyapa then Allahabad is named after Allah and ahmedabad is named after a muslim Sultan Ahmed Shah so they belongs to pakistan.

i've never said Kashmir belong to India just because it is named after an ancient sage Kashyap..there are many places in Pakistan too which are name like Peshawar and Multan.(Sanskrit roots)

In short your story is false and your logics are stupid.

I respect your sentiment....Like you,there are so many people of other religion who are of different opinion wrt yours ....and they are all killed and assassinated by Kashmir insurgent too...

That's what i was saying pakistan has no intellectual property right registered for all things related to Islam and neither india has intellectual property right registered for all things related to hinduism so his logic was false.

Kashmir was demanded by pakistanis because during partition it was decided that muslim majority provinces will given to pakistan.

do you realize what an empty question you are asking?

The answer in one word is ..Water.

A lot of other reasons can be added to this and various justifications can be ascribed to them but the central theme remains water.

Almost all water that flows into Pakistan is from rivers that originate ( less Indus) form J&K.
