Why is INDIA so Dirty?

. . .
But Indians are busy contemplating taking land from other countries: :cheesy:

Not really, Indian government has been busy mouthing off all kinds of "XXXXXXXX India" campaigns since 2014. Like this "Clean India" or Swachh Bharat Mission. Remember the famous "Take poo to the loo" video? :partay:

People now see how Indian government and politicians clean up India by their mouths.

. .
Because 1.2 billion are stuffed together in a small piece of land. Controlling the population is the only way forward.
Till now things are manageable here but unfortunately, Pakistan is heading in the same direction.
Population density in east China and Japan, Korea, Singapore are all much higher than that of India, but we don't see that hell on earth scenes everywhere in India.

. . .
Interesting thread.
Is Pakistan any different?

Why is INDIA so Dirty?

Yes and no.

Indian cities, towns and villages undoubtedly suffer from pollution. However the extent lies on a spectrum rather than one size fits all. Some are more dirty, some are comparable to international standards, most unfortunately fall in the former than the later.

Its a function of our overburgening population combined with low resources to adress the challenges faced by overpopulation.

The important point though is that cleanliness is not top down initiative like GoC but usually bottom up. As a citizen, having experienced both sides of India, IMO its a function of uplifting people from poverty and instilling a better civic sense. This is increasingly becoming more apparent.

Cities, towns, talukas and panchayats increasingly are focused on not only the cleanliness aspect but institutionalizing an entire eco system of waste management systems. The effects are fragmented, but increasingly taking hold and the effects markedly visible.

Credit where credit to be due. @beijingwalker you would be unaware of the cleanliness initiatives, and the change that is being wrought from them. To be filthy and be inactive is condemnable but to be filthy and initiate building an entire eco system that can manage the waste of a 1.4 Billion is commendable.

@beijingwalker any citizen of a developed nation should be proud of the cleanliness around him, but can you honestly deny that during its transformative years China also faced a similar challenge which it managed to adress admirably.

Why knock on others going through what you yourself have gone through?
