Why is Christianity growing so quickly in Iran?

That's exactly correct. Overwhelming majority of ex-shia Iranians become atheists (with a smaller number of christians and theists with no abrahamic religions) and majority of them become nationalists in the sense that they belittle arabs as "fabricators of islam".

I'd say that is spot on. Virtually every Iranian who I have come across, who is not religious, is usually an atheist or just doesn't bother with faith anymore, a strong agonistic if you like. It even goes down family lines. One Iranian girl I taught, her father was an atheist and mother was a strong Muslim. She was caught up between both.

.
Actually it is true i heard many Iranians are converting to Christianity or Zoroastrian.
Christianity is reportedly the fastest growing religion in Iran with an average annual rate of 5.2%
It can be concluded some convert because of political reasons and to be accepted as refugee but there are many individuals converts because of faith and hatred towards Islam.

According to my experience, Iranians coming from very religious families become theists with no abrahamic religions and sometimes become christians, and the ones with typical middle class background or with academic background become atheists/agnostics. Iran is rapidly experiencing what already happened in west during the past century. Iranian society is changing very rapidly in all social aspects and it's not just about religion. It's also about women, families, the business mentality, consumerism, ... As a person who has not been in Iran for a couple of years, I always talk with newcomer Iranian immigrants to US, and what they describe about Iran each year, shows very rapid changes each year. Sometimes, I see videos posted from Iran in YT, ... and I tell myself that "is it really the country that I left couple of years ago?!!!" Changes are unbelievable ... It's very different with the trend we're observing in the other ME countries.

Not surprising I suppose. Many Iranian nationalists seem to despise the role of Islam in their country and this is their way of rebelling. Others may be doing it simply to get refuge.

From one fairy tale to another...if they use Christianity to seek asylum more power to them...who would you not use a tool of deception to deceive...Africa is also seeing a rise of Christianity....but unfortunately its the wrong kind of Christianity...thats why you see the rising hate against homosexuals.

It's obvious , I mean if you walk through streets of Tehran you'll be shocked about differences btw generations even within a family and esp their outlooks ...

And this doesn't bother you?

I can tell you from my experinces, that most of Iranians that come as refugees are atheists, furthermore actually almost every Iranian I know personally is atheist or does not really care about religion. It is also true that many abuse the "christianity case" to get a positive answer in their interviews but I can tell you that this is not just done by Iranians. When I was younger we had some neighbours that were refugees from Yugoslavia and they were muslims. It was a young couple, I guess 21-22 years old. They werent married officialy but they claimed to be in Yugoslavia, however they were like babysitters to me and i spent a lot of time with them. One day the boyfriend/husband said he will convert to christianity because Jesus appeared at a traffic light and saved his life. I didn't understand him back then but today I can tell you: either he was on drugs or he wanted just get a residential permission.

Nice to know fact:
All of these Iranians I know that left Islam never eat pork and stay at least 5m away from people eating it.

.
People convert to christianity not because they see God with their eyes no its all about interest the individuals see
Most of these people don't care about religion or god !

They do everything to live in western countries...

Because drinking & free sexual relationships banned in Iran!

The other reason is hijab...
Better than my reasoning But honestly I met some Bahhaeis people they'r just like the western they do every thing they want.

Crusaders protected Christians in Jerusalem after Muslims attacked them.
That's why they killed orthodox Christians on their way the to Jerusalem and in it? Lol what a joke. The crusaders is the modern day NATO.

When the Muslims finally entered Jerusalem not a SINGLE person was harmed. And when the ruler of Jerusalem offered the Muslims to pray inside the church, the khalifa refused fearing it might be converted to a mosque.

As someone who has lived in over 10 different countries around Europe, as well as in America/Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and has met Iranians in all those countries, some of whom were first generation immigrants and some of whom were second generation, I agree with what was being said about most Iranians being agnostic/atheist and/or some being spiritual without adhering to any religion. At least that's my experience with the people I've come across.

But yes there are those who exploit the immigration process and claim to be Christian refugees so that they can get asylum. Then there are those who genuinely want to become Christian but i think they're in the minority of the numbers mentioned in the thread tbh.

Another thing i want to point out, is the fact that "Christian Persecution(Converts that is)" in Iran is a hot topic in western media, especially on news outlets such as fox news/others who lean right and etc. So they will exaggerate the numbers and the situation, not that the situation for christian converts in Iran is not bad...It definitely is.
Anyway, Die Welt is usually considered a right wing news paper as It's owned by Axel Springer SE.
And what do i mean by right wing? Conservative, Support for Zionism, Censoring campaigns for Leftist or Socialist parties and etc.

Red part: epic BS

Almost all of Ex-shia Iranians are atheists!

Let me tell you a truth!

These atheists don't count you & other Arabs even sub humans !!!

I went to the US in Ramadan and I met many Iranians in LA who even hesitate to have the current Iranian flag in their houses. it seems the only flag they have is that from Shah era. Yes those I saw and met are generally atheists, I don't know if they became atheists as a reaction to khomeinist revolution or they are originally atheists since they were in Iran before 1979. but there are multiple of Iranians who emigrated in the last decade due to political and economical reasons. I guess they want to live but the Iranian regime doesn't take into consideration how struggling and suffering those people are.
I don't care that much how they perceive me because that means nothing to me unless they have aggressive intentions.
They just want their country back from the current regime but they don't know how.

Are you sure about drinking and free sexual relation part ?

I bet if Iran has open media and no censorship on TV, then waves of Iranians will turn out to be atheist, Christians and Sunnis. It's hard to control people minds and desires especially these days. Almost all the Iranians who live in the US are atheists and Christians. The Iranians must ask themselves why all these folks are converting easily to another religion?
As I previously added, the problem is inside Iran not inside those who converted from Shia or whatever.
It have nothing to do with shiasm islam it self is the problem

Sunnism it worse and more bloody when it come to the point of hating the others and violence
