What's new

Why is China opening so many fronts ?

Qing -> Republic of China -> PRC. All but 10 countries in the world recognize the PRC as the legitimate government of China ... as such that should also make the PRC the legitimate successor (albeit indirectly) to the Qing Dynasty.

Yes & no but the argument that PRC using dynastic evidences to further their claim is still messed in so many level. Considering what china was before Deng & how adamant Mao was in erasing China's past.

But didn't the Communist Party under Deng acknowledge that the Cultural Revolution was a large mistake?

Of course But the PRC doesn't derive its legitimacy from the "mandate of heaven" like past dynasty did, but from the "will of the people" Mao's PRC might still be a successor somewhat but to call it a continuation of dynastic rules is kind of against the founding & ideals of the country.

.
What the heck do you think China have the whole cultural revolution thing? It meant to cut ties with china of the past & that the PRC (under Mao) will be a new china unbound by it's history & backwardness. They literally smashed Chinese historical artifacts so as not to be reminded of it.

We WERE Expansionist the word were being the key word.

China meanwhile continues to expand beyond her border. Get it. Or are you too stupid comprehend?
Expansionist indon has no right to talk about china's claims in the south china sea. Its natural u try to sling mud at china becos indon has a dispute with china(in addition to your innate resentment for the Chinese being the atas class in your country)

Period.

In the last few months , China has -
Rammed 2 vietnamese boats , sinking one.
Harrassed Indonesian boats
Flown over taiwans territory 4 times
Banned imports from Australia
Indicted 2 Canadian citizens as revenge action
And ofcourse ingressed in no mans land on India's borders
It already has a tenuous relationship with usa, but i don't blame China entirely for that.
So in the midst of the greatest global challenge facing humanity, what exactly is china's gameplan?
Except for the nazi excursions in 1939 , i can't really find any logical parrallels for their actions .
And China is a massive country, not as if it needs to cultivate so much hostility in its neighborhood for a few more kms .

Only reason i can think is that they want to divert attention from the Chinese link to the covid virus , but it would be a massive over reaction.
Of course could just be a power play when everyone is trying to save their countries , but that is too cynical.

Has it ever occurred to you that it is the other way around ?

Indonesia occupying a country that they have absoulutely no claim on.

Brilliant reason given =

At least we can claim east Timor as part of the Timor islands chain.

Roflcopter

N this dude wants to talk about china's disputes with other countries.

Hahahaha.

China has woken up and they are very angry with India , for quite some time Indians have been provocative on border with its neighbours..

Bear in mind this is about indonesia invading n occupying a coutnry that they have ZERO claims on(not even historical)

The Indonesian occupation of East Timor began in December 1975 and lasted until October 1999(26 years of occupation). After centuries of Portuguese colonial rule in East Timor, a 1974 coup in Portugal led to the decolonisation of its former colonies, creating instability in East Timor and leaving its future uncertain. After a small-scale civil war, the pro-independence Fretilin declared victory in the capital city of Dili and declared an independent East Timor on 28 November 1975.

Claiming that its assistance had been requested by East Timorese leaders, Indonesian military forces invaded East Timor on 7 December 1975, and by 1979 they had all but destroyed the armed resistance to the occupation. Following a controversial "Popular Assembly" which many said was not a genuine act of self-determination, Indonesia declared the territory a province of Indonesia (Timor Timur).

i repeat for the last time:

this smart alec wanna pinpoint 'imperialist' china's disputes with other countries, when his own country is no saint herself(worse than china, IMO. China doesnt attack n occupy places she has no historical claims on).

it's like a smoker complaining about cigarette smoke coming from other smokers lol.

U think he's qualified? make your own conclusion lol/

big bully thought he could get away with bullying a smaller guy, until he gets his own azz being poked by an even bigger guy behind lol.

in chinese, there's an idiom:

"there's always a taller mountain behind a tall mountain"

If Indonesia is an imperialist, based on Negarakertagama alone Tumasik , Malaysia all the way until Thailand provinces of Narathiwat and Pattani should be under Indonesia rights to be claimed, afterall most of Indonesian Nationalist assert Indonesia areas should be looking at what Majapahit extend, let alone all of the Timor Islands.

And yet the only one people are talking about is the one with India ... I wonder why :what:

you can claim anything you want. the question is whether you have the power to take the claims.

Don't be SILLY.
Indonesia wanted to be IMPERIALIST EXCEPT IT WAS IMPOTENT and unable to accomplish it.
Indonesia did want to colonize Singapore and Malaysia.
Remember Konfrontasi?

Indonesia announces Konfrontasi
Konfrontasi (or Confrontation, 1963–1966) was Indonesia’s response to the formation of the Federation of Malaysia, arising from the British decolonisation process in Southeast Asia.[1]

Konfrontasi involved armed incursions, bomb attacks and other subversive acts aimed at destabilising the states that were to be included in the Federation, namely, Singapore, Malaya, Sarawak, Brunei and North Borneo (now known as Sabah)

Oh for goodness sake. China have even less right to complain about Indonesian past expansionism especially because A. It happened in the past & B. China is currently doing it right now.

This is why I call you stupid & it's not an insult if its true.

You're an immigrant. You always be below the natural Singaporean.
