Why is China called the longest continual civilization?

Is this some new PSYOP started by Pakistan and Pakistanis? Trying to claim everything from Sanskrit to the oldest book in the world the Vedas? I mean i understand Pakistan has a bad brand image in the world these days and for sure Pakistanis should strive to improve that image, but it shouldn't be done by trying to steal India's image. Surely Islamic Republic of Pakistan has a lot of positive things to advertise and market itself

Well they've learnt that religion/ideology can't keep a country together, so they've turned to something else.

Trying to portray their "civilization" (Ancient Pakistan ) as something different/distinct from "Bharati Civ" (whatever that is)

However being anti-Hindu is very much a part of their identity, hence the emphasis on "Indus/Aryan" (non hindu ) heritage.

Well whatever makes you feel more confident

However if they show a picture/video of a Mullah with henna dyed neck beard calling for the death of infidels the whole world will instantly relate it to Pakistan. Am not trying to rub it in guys, but thats how things are.

Its too little too late to claim the legacy of erstwhile India. If this would have been done in 60's or even 70's it might have worked, cause information or misinformation as some of you think it as wasn't as wide spread. And as far as sharing the legacy is concerned, its upto Pakistanis to decide if they want them to be seen as Middle-eastern, Afghan, Turkic invaders or the indigenous sons of soil. I and every other Indian i hope would be more than happy to share our legacy

I guess the new Pakistani tagline will be "we ruled you for 5000years" . First Aryans, then Mauryas, then Guptas then Palas then Mughals.

The continuity of a civilization depends upon the continuity of the cultural practices of the particular civilisation in the majority area of their once controlled territory.

And certainly in that regard, both India & China can claim to be one of the longest continious civilization.

i see it this way, china has always been "chinese" in that each era succeeded the other without china losing itself or ever being colonized what what we would not consider chinese today, the invaders became chinese not the other way around our languege is spoken understood and use widely today. egypt were conquered by greeks then romans, they didnt become Egyptian, their gods are not worshiped any more, our are, their languege was even lost for a time and not used today, ours is continually in use. in india, multiply invasions happened and it was only unified twice(even that was incomplete) before the british. the british certainly didnt become india nor did they learn hindu in favor of english thus this is a discontinuity. in contrast, how many peoples managed to conquer china? mongols and Manchurians, both dynasty followed Chinese traditions of rule and promoted Confucian values and learn chinese rather than china learning their languege, they added to our history and culture rather than take away. Manchurians lost their own language in the process. more mongols live in china today than Mongolia, era had its own distinctive successor state(despite multiply kingdoms they all fought to become or as the single legitimate ruler of all china).

to sum it up,

our language is still used after unfication(as oppose to egypt or Babylonians and india has many many languege(not unified)

were never taken over by peoples who are not consider your people today

each era had it own successor state(as an example Indian kingdoms did not fight for/as nor represented all of india, our three kindoms did for instance)

traditions from thousands of years past still followed today

Have seen so many thesis and argument put forward.....but guys , truly, can't you see ( does not take any common sense) THAT ....YOU GUYS ARE THE DESTROYER OF OUR ANCIENT CULTURE AND HERITAGE .........ITS SO RIDICULOUS TO SEE THE DESTROYER CLAIMING THE OUR ANCIENT HERITAGE AND CULTURE.....

The day you guys start worshipping the nature and SUN, you can stake some claim.........that can only happen if you become us ....till than KNOW THIS WELL that the culture and heritage that you claim beacuse now you happen to reside there has been preserved even now by people like me whose ancestors has moved from those parts to places like UP and Bihar and other parts of India....

While Muslims believe in Theocracy, a single Prophet and God.

Only India is the longest continual civilization in the world.

And as for china Mao demolished and destroyed most of things under cultural revolution and now chinese don't follow their old culture or civilization etc.

Only the stupid things like foot binding, drugs and illiteracy for women.

India on the other hand has many wonderful traditions such as female illiteracy, dowry, honor killings, domestic abuse and burning widows.
