I dont know why dont people understand for irani being persian is as much important as being muslim. Furthermore its a far right majority in government and masses which is shia and they dont consider us fellow muslims (except for few sane people).

India is facing a major collapse of its policy initiatives in Iran and Afghanistan. Chabahar has been a debacle for them. They are trying to salvage something. They are also worried that their oil shipping lanes could be cut off in a conflict, which is a near certainty if PN, PLAN and Iran are all on the same page (despite all the tough talk by Indian members on PDF).

The Indians are hoping that symbolism is enough to impress the Iranians, they can't offer much in substance since USA, GCC and Israel could take it negatively. Right now India needs USA and friends more than USA needs India. India will have to start towing the American line if it wants continued bailouts. USA is beginning to learn what the Iranians just learned...Indians talk big and exaggerate everything but accomplish little on the ground.

Iran and India are strategic partners in India with a common goal in minimizing Pakistan clout in Afghanistan. Both hate the Afghans enough to plunge it in another 2 decade long civil war
