Why India didn't strike Pakistan after 26/11

Common US dint attack soviets at once, they waged war of attrition and waited for its collapse. They let soviets commit mistakes while strengthening themselves. As they say keep your frnds close and enemies closer.

Tell me how do you fight a country of 200 million radical ppl ? bomb them? We will simply end up like a situation like iran-iraq war.

No bombing, nothing that affects the economy. We should have built ourselves options. Political and internal options within Pakistan. We did nothing. We betrayed our assets and threw them away. What country does that? It takes decades to build options, how can you just throw that away. No war, no bombing, just a bloody nose every time we can reliably trace an incident back to Pakistan. Like Pavlov's dog, they should know what comes when they do something in India. In the short term, there will be an escalation but the only way to stop this nonsense is to make the costs to Pak too high, otherwise for sure they will eventually nuke us.

If that would have not been the case India would have gone ahead with striking option. Even if i take your above comment at face value, a strike by IAF over Pakistan would have guaranteed Congress a win in the next election. So it made all the sense for them to attack. The only thing that thwarted such proactive posturing was the ability of Pakistani military to counter attack and uncertainty of the extent that attack would have gone as pointed out by the author as well.

They will, once the images from South Asia start circulating around the world. Dying people, radioactive burns, skin peeling off, dying animals, dark skies, starvation. Radioactive fall out around the planet. Public pressure will build. They will ban nuclear weapons, cordon of the blackened lands of South Asia from the rest of the world and the rest of humanity will go on.

Is it because of the goodness of their heart ; NO

Even they expect retaliation in future

Let us say they got away because we were NOT prepared enough
It was a nasty surprise

But obviously some thought and preparation has gone into a repeat of such a scenario

We will get another opportunity

That is why you see such anxiety and panic attacks regarding the New Government

There is another factor here

Our retaliation has not been direct but indirectly we have done a LOT of damage
in terms of lives and economic cost to their economy

They know it

AND the funny thing is that 26 /11 has ENDED Kashmir issue for ever

We have stopped even acknowledging Kashmir as a dispute and NOBODY even USA
can do ZILCH about it

The anxiety to have a dialouge with India shows their desperation
to avoid a confrontation which they know can happen

They know our restraint wont last for ever
