When I am out to find fault with others, I must ensure that i am not caught off guard. Its unfortunate that the amnesty researcher could not complete her work. But I have also come across some journalists who were investigating some big stories basis some hypotheses and when at the end of their invetigation nothing spicy came out, they did something odd to get their investigations stopped. Thats how rgey save their face and job. I wish Amnesty International carries out the research left half way by Ms. Mehta by their other employees/agents so that the truth comes out. Amnesty has reported several cases of human rights violation in India and there are many other indigenous NGOs who work for human rights and Amnesty can engage them as well. Amnesty is an institution, they can always replace the researcher by another.
Regardless rule of the gun for anyone who raises an Anti Indian voice be it in any occupied part, Hyderabad Lucknow or Kashmir is not the way forward for a country that calls itself the largest democracy. We do not want to be part of India as Lucknowites but the basic primitive mindset of these Indians is only to call us traitor and deport/arrest us. its only going to backfire and the murder of Afzal Guru a man who had renounced violence in interest of peace is deplorable. His murder by the Indians may push the muslims to a point where they have nothing but the will to fight back... that will be dangerous for India.
This is not the fault of journalists. It only displays India's draconian policy against Kashmiris in particular and muslims in general.
