Diwali fails to light up stock markets, Sensex sheds 52 points

The first trading session of Samvat 2069 ended on a weak note as the BSE benchmark Sensex erased early gains to close nearly 52 points lower at 18,618.87 in the special 75-minute Diwali 'Muhurat' trading on Tuesday after investors preferred to book profits to start new accounts.

After lifting the Sensex nearly 60 points to 18,732.71 at the outset, the momentum quickly evaporated on profit selling and weak global market trends. The 30-share Sensex closed 51.47 points, or 0.28 per cent, lower at 18,618.87.

Out of the 30-share Sensex, 13 stocks including Bharti Airtel, RIL and ONGC gained while 17 counters including Tata Motors, HDFC, Infosys and SBI closed with losses.

Investors were seen cautious amid negative factors like contraction in industrial output and higher inflation and disappointing quarter earnings by leading companies, said dealers.

Brokers said a weak trend in overseas markets on reports of a dispute between international lenders threatening to further delay an aid payment to Greece, also influenced the Indian market.

The wide-based National Stock Exchange index Nifty declined by 16.75 points, or 0.29 per cent to 5,666.95 led by stocks of IT, realty and banking sectors.

Indices had last closed with losses on Muhurat trading in 2007 when Sensex had slipped 150 points and Nifty by 36 points.

Though there was no usual trading today, a special Muhurat trading was conducted on stock markets between 15.45 hrs to 17.00 hrs.

Business volumes declined as investors made token transactions mostly of profit-booking nature on the first day of the Hindu calender year with a view to open new financial books with gains.

Industrial production had declined by 0.4 per cent in September, as against growth of 2.5 per cent in the same month last year. Retail inflation also rose marginally to 9.75 per cent in October, from 9.73 per cent in September.

diwali is the reason that indians hate sri lankans , because of diwali the hate that indians have for sri lankans stays alive.

the story goes that Ravana kidnapped Seeta and took her to Lanka , this referece to lanka is indeed to present day sri lanka

the story further goes than rama enlists the army of monkeys to save seeta and in the fight defeat ravana and destroys his lanka , hence the indian hindus continue their hatred of Sri Lanka based on this fairy tale.

The story ends with the followers of rama lighting up their way back with diyas , hence present day hindus light diyas on this day

Its better that the in-factual story of rama, seeta and ravana is corrected so that future generations of Indians don’t grow up hating sri lanka.

Actually she whines about few things I post whereas she expects me to keep quite on her posts.

And if you report her and someone accidently bans her, she runs to a Mod for lifting the ban.

Most idiotic logice ever heard. Take a hike kiddo, not your forte. :D

can you point to any inaccuracies in what I wrote ?

You can prepare all you want. We know hypocrites like you. You people do crimes yourself while lecture others.

What you see in these festivals is materialistic things to target, what we see is tradition that has been followed, we still do puja, take blessings from our parents and other elders etc. This hasn't change. Still kids love Diwali for Deepak and Phuljhari.

Bhai Dooj is another festival where sister shows their love and care towards her brother. My elder sister won't be able to come this year but I know she still care for her little brother. No matter how modern society becomes, the sweetness of these relations won't go. Its all up to the person, not to the artificial things. I will pass on to my next generation the zest of these festivals while you will pollute a children' mind telling them only negativity.

I have been taught to take only positivity and neglect negativity from everything. And believe me no matter how much you try to demean the festivals and how much you get MODs inaction towards such thread, people will still love these festivals.

I am also preparing a bombshell thread on various evils done by doctors too.
:D

Game on.
Go ahead plz do the honour.
desperation..................Eh...............................:D

Oh btw dont forget to post the satyamev jayate series on docs.......
If you want i'll help you in your thread by contributing in it.videos articles etc.

Pollution level during Diwali goes up by 30%

LUCKNOW: Smog continued to prevail in Lucknow for the 11th consecutive day on Sunday, and is likely to intensify in the next few days due to bursting of fire crackers during Diwali festivities. Already, the air pollution level of the city is more than twice the permissible limit. The air pollution is rising because of increase in the number of vehicles and diesel generators as well as increase in the dust particles due to rise in construction activities and bad conditions of roads.

Experts say that during Diwali, the air pollution level is likely to increase by 30%, which will not only be dangerous for those suffering from pulmonary diseases, but also cause breathing problem to others.

The smog is a combination of fog and smoke or other air pollutants. It is created when moisture level is high in the atmosphere. It does not allow the tiny particles of pollutants to dissipate, and instead tiny water droplets carrying fine particles of pollutants and dust remain suspended in the atmosphere. At present the speed of the wind is very low. As a result, the smog is virtually hanging in the atmosphere, resulting in hazy conditions. The authorities are aware of the fact that the pollution level are alarming in the city and the fire crackers will increase it further, but no action has been taken so far.

A recent survey conducted by Indian Institute of Toxicology Research reveals that the average values of PM10 in residential, commercial and industrial areas in the city are above the prescribed National Ambient Air Quality Standard (NAAQS) of 100 g/m3. Particulate Matter (PM) is the term for solid and liquid particles in the air. The survey found that the average value of PM was 167.1g/m3, 230.9 g/m3 and 217.9 g/m3 respectively in residential, commercial and industrial areas. The noise levels during day and night in the residential and commercial areas were also found to be above the prescribed limit.

Regional Officer, UP Pollution Control Board, SK Mishra said that data shows that pollution level during Diwali increases at least by 30%. Experts also said that the crackers contain elements like copper, cadmium, sulphur, aluminium, barium and various others that help in releasing vibrant colours after it is ignited. Once a cracker is burnt, it releases toxic chemicals that remain suspended for long time causing serious health aliments.

The heavy metals remain in the atmosphere for long and then get oxidised before entering the food chain through vegetables.

City-based chest physician Dr Ashutosh Dubey said, "Gaseous air pollutants along with other toxic gases emitted due to burning of firecrackers aggravates the chance of attack among asthma Patients. The patients with heart disease, chronic bronchitis and low immune system are also at high risk." He added that while harmful smoke increase the chance of conjunctivitis, loud noise makes people's behaviour irritating. Besides, burn injuries are most common on the hands, eyes and face.

Similarly, ears, nose and throat specialist, Dr PP Chopra said that loud noise of crackers can damage eardrums. After a loud noise, most people feel numbness in ears for few seconds. Even loud and continuous noise can make a person deaf.

Dos and Don'ts:

Light firecrackers in an open area

Remove all inflammable articles before lighting firecrackers

Wear cotton clothes that fit close

Keep doors and windows closed to prevent stray firecrackers from entering

Always ensure the supervision of an adult around children playing with firecrackers

Maintain safe distance from the firecrackers while lighting them and dispose them safely to prevent burn accidents

Keep a bucket of water or sand and a blanket neat to extinguish fire

Pour water to douse fire

In case of minor burn, pour water till the sensation subsides

Do not hold firecrackers in hand while lighting them

Ok , so on one day out of 365 days , we have 30% more pollution. Bid deal ??

Don’t Fall for This Fake Image of India During Diwali From Space

india-not-diwali.jpg

The graphic above is a stunning image of India. However, in spite of the captions accompanying its many social shares today, it was not taken during Diwali, the Hindu Festival of Lights. In fact, it’s not even a real photograph.

The image is actually a composite of satellite photos of India created by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration in 2003.

This isn’t the first time it has made the rounds on social media, either. It was rampantly shared on Facebook during Diwali last year with the caption “India at night during Diwali NASA.” According to USA Today, the original post was shared hundreds of thousands of times.

According to Chris Elvidge, a physical scientist at NOAA’s National Geophysical Data Center, the composite was intended to show population growth over time. The white lights depict where populations were centered before 1992, while different colors are used to depict the movement of people.

Don’t fall for the hoax!

so in a nutshell the story is that ravana takes away sita to lanka , then there is a fight which involves monkey soldiers and finally rama returns and people light lamps.

whats is in between and how many years passed by and what other events are in between is beside the point , the point is that divali is the culmination of the story and in the whole story Lankans are portrayed as the villans, which is plain worng
