Nearly everyone in older generation who was literate in Hindi belt and Deccan (Dakhni Urdu), today Hindi is taking it's place though people use a lot of farsi/Arabic words in daily conversation (even Hindus). I know to read and understand it (learned in Madarsa) but can't write.
