Why Has India Become the World’s Top Arms Buyer?

I don't exactly see whats anybodys problem if we do get some badly needed up-gradation at 1/10th the cost of developing it indigenously(which one must admit is not top notch at the moment). This arms race in Asia is triggered by China and is giving everybody a good enough reason to upgrade their defense. I think the chinese should demand a commission from all the def equipment companies for driving up sales in all of Asia.

So what if we have failed to make our own weapons? We have the options to buy and we have the diplomatic relations to sustain the purchase of these weapons with our own hard owned cash. I know it causes you guys much unwanted heartburn but on the contrary why do you care anyway. If you can walk the walk and talk the talk what is preventing you from doing the same? Jealousy and animosity is what comes to mind.

Dude Pakistan has a genuine concern here, they will have a major problem in maintaining any kind of conventional parity with India. The days are long gone where both India and Pakistan were spoken of as rivals, now its only nuclear powered neighbors. Now the general topic is Ind vs China, not Ind vs Pak. If there is a so called competition between India and China I hope its a healthy one, with mutual respect for each other.

Some people really dont understand India's Defense Procurement or any procurement Methods. India does not deny the participation of Indian pvt or Public companies participating in any of its tender process. We are not a nation where goods are restricted by the western countries. We issue Global tenders for Defense procurement and the company which wins the contract satisfying all the mentioned tender criteria s takes home the cash and order.

We have no defense procurement policy stating buy Indian. Companies like DRDO,HAL,BHEL etc etc are growing drastically but yet to reach the expectations of our armed forces.

Lets take it as training modules for our troops till we start making them ourselves. That is why we insist on TOT as well. I think its a move in the right direction as the capabilities and needs improve so will our manufacturing and no harm in some serious competition to buck up.

lol if ur remotly related to any newspaper company india, ull know that these articles are written to fill up space in midddle pages taking quotes from any analyst. over 50 ships uc in indian ports..lollll thats phucking hard believe that our ports can hande this immense pressure and the big daddy aircraft carrier. sitara, hal lch, tejas ready to hit production in 1 year. and rafael and will soon join. 30000 (6 bill) missile production township. this is just beginning. our budget is increasing and govt is everready to suppport any indegeneous development from drdo or hal.
