Why has BJP's 'Bangladeshi' rant worked in Assam but not in West Bengal?

.
'Illegal Bangladeshi migrants' issue was a hot issue during election campaign. It worked in Assam for BJP against Tarun Gogoi but failed miserably in West Bengal against Mamata Banerjee.
the illegal bangladeshi issue is quite old one in assam and AGP got into power in 1985 on that issue.

BJP just milked the same 40 year old issue, better than AGP.

This harami ryad asking this question because he has plan to move to WB in future, if the Muslims arent evicted it will remain as a distant dream of him.

. .
People are imagining that just cos BJP is at the centre it can conjure magic at all the states. TN elections are best indicators of it. The Dravidian parties have representatives and offices at each and every village.
So does CPI and TMC at Bengal. TMC didnt come to power with just single Singur protest. Starting from the end of 1990's her party began to grow at every level. No party can just grow by itself on a single personality.

Even if that party did based on figures such as Modi and AK, the next time if they dont grow organisationally, they are bound to fail. And its where BJP keeps failing at states such as TN and WB. They even lost at places where they won 2 MP seats in TN, cos they didnt grow organisationally in the last 2 years with no outreach programmes or of any sort.
BJP will need to take 15 years minimum to capture power at Bengal, and if its going to bear 15 years of Mamata rule, then all the best :)

.
Muslim population in these states

Assam - 34%

West Bengal - 27%

Assam has a Muslim party in All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) which forced Hindus to vote BJP as a group while Muslim votes in West Bengal is divided among TMC, Communists & Congress hence Hindus do not see any threat to vote as a group.

.
BJP said 'illegal Bangladeshis' are vote banks of Mamata and are responsible for all militant activities in WB.

Which is not wrong actually. Even though I think Didi is the lesser of the 2 evils of Bengal. The other being the Left front.

I have come across a few b'deshis (accent giveaway). Who definitely don't have any papers. Mostly, involved in household chores. Since, it's a non-bengali speaking area they would probably not create mischief here. But, in Bengal it'll be easier for them to blend.

Who knows who all are pole vaulting into India. Along with eager to work and provide for their families there could also be rogue elements supported by ISI, Jamaat and all those other God-forsaken junk.

Mind your language. I have no desire to move to your ancestors place West Bengal.

Because Bangladeshi migration is changing demography of sparsely populated Assam, while its effect on demography of heavily populated West Bengal is minimal or say non apparent.

New Delhi: All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) supremo Badruddin Ajmal has held Congress responsible for illegal immigration of Bangladeshis into Assam.

Speaking to India TV, the billionaire perfume baron-turned- politician said that his party is also in favour of sealing India’s borders with Bangladesh.

“ Congress is responsible for illegal immigration from Bangladesh . We also want sealing of borders. For last 11 years, we are saying that the border with Bangladesh should be sealed. All illegal Bangladeshi immigrants, who arrived after 1971, should be thrown out,” Ajmail said.

The AIUDF chief went on to say that his party will cooperate in identifying illegal Bangladeshi immigrants. However, he added that nobody should be subjected to atrocities.

“ Take us into confidence. If any Bangladeshi arrives, he will hide into a Muslim’s house only. We’ll search every house and identify them but don’t commit atrocities over any citizen,” he said.

Badruddin Ajmal, however, expressed his opposition to the fencing of borders with Bangladesh.

“ We are against fencing. It involves bungling of crores of Rupees. It’s of no use. It’s so easy to cross borders,” he added.

He also raised questions over the action taken by Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) in this matter when the party was in power in the state.

“ AGP came to power twice in the state. What did the party do?” Ajmal asked.

AIUDF won 13 out of 60 seats from where the party put up its candidates in recently concluded Assembly elections. The electoral graph of the party has gone down tcompared to 2011 Assembly elections when it had won 18 seats.

Badruddin Ajmal himself lost the elections from Salmara South to Congress party’s Wazed Ali Choudhury by 16, 723 votes.

The state is all set to get the first ever BJP government under the leadership of Sarbananda Sonowal. The three-party alliance led by the BJP has won a total of 86 seats in the state. The BJP has won 60 seats on its own while the AGP has emerged victorious in 14 seats. The Bodoland Peoples Front has won 12 seats. The Congress party which ruled the state for last 15 years could manage to win only 26 seats.

Yes. Congress (and communists too in Bengal) facilitated illegal migration to increase Muslim population and build a loyal votebank for itself in Assam.

Assam's new CM after election victory.

1.That will be the day. He can't do it because it is not doable. In fact more immigration will take place because this guy, Modi and Amit Shah never tire of declaring that all/any Hindu immigrant will be welcome.
2. It is doubtful if Sonowal will be able to even complete his term. He has made too many tall and unattainable promises.

Indian bureaucracy continues to think/operate in the lines of its predecessor the British Colonial Service. To control NE's freedom struggle, Indians divided and subdivided the old Assam province to create inner conflicts and fights where Indian govt could fish. They encouraged large scale immigration to bring demographic sway. (Sikkim now has more settlers than indigenous people). They manufactured anti-Muslim and anti-Bengali feelings. Indian Intel created several insurgent groups - some of which have gone out of control (Like LTTE).

Assuming this figment of overactive imagination / tripe to be true..The fact that NE is still NE - its seems to have worked.

So, what the concern here ?
