East asians are more hard working also obey govt rules compared to us who will disregard everything govt says. :)
My criteria for a better country is better civic sense of the citizen, it seems vietnam is ahread of us in that.

Naah !...seriously ,Vietnam's growth rate has been around ~6% or say 5.62% to be precise for 9months of 2014. whereas, India is growing at 5.7%(Q1-2014) ,both countries have equal growth rate, so definately a country with 92mill would develop faster and better than one wid 1200mill. Anways u guy are ahead of us on per capita statistics.hence i said u guys could be more developed than us. See,I wasn't flattering anyone :angels:

Vietnam has a higher GDP per capital than India? I never knew that.

However, I will assume Vietnam is more organized and has a better management/planning administration than India. This can be seen in how Vietnam has been able to attract more FDI from global electronics/toys companies moving out from China, instead of India being able to attract such companies despite its huge population/market potential.Though i know Vietnam's proximity with China also helps alot, being close to supply chain/raw materials from China.

But i will also assume, the average vietnamese has a higher literacy rate and life expectancy than the average Indian.
Well even if Vietnam is ahead, it wouldn't be that surprising, since they are more part of East Asia, and almost all east asian/confucian countries tend to do better than South Asian countries. There are many reasons for this.

Vietnam safe for Chinese tourist???

I prefer India!

Ironically, on this one i agree.

I want to travel to India. A little fear if I was a girl, but I'm not.
lool you wont be raped if thats what you mean. :D

Dont worry, you can travel to India, its not that bad as you think bro. I have been there myself , its quite a nice place to visit. Nice landscape, religious sites, welcoming people, natural surroundings and amazing spicy food.:smitten: The only thing i didnt like was the gridlocks in roads, it was hard for me to get anywhere on time, plus too much beggars as well. But apart from that it was an amazing experience. You should try it, im sure you wont regret bro.

Not the only reason but that is one of the reasons.

Problem with both Pakistan and India is that they are not nations but countries - multitude of nations stitched up into one legal entity after the end of the British rule in 1947.

Now compare with both BD and Sri Lanka. Both BD and Sri Lanka are better run than either India or Pakistan as they only have one dominant group and so decisions can be made quicker as the central government is all dominant. Only reason that BD is now not far richer is because it only started as an independent nation in 1971.

well both countries are poor.

A view from a guy who had worked in Vietnam and currently working in India.

Good and Bad things of Vietnam:

1.They have awesome coffee :D
2. Traffic is next to hell
3. Their economy is booming
4. Motorbikes are like trucks in Vietnam
5. Road safety doesn't exist in Vietnam
6. I don't know how but Vietnam is WIFI zone
7. They hate USA
8. Their culture is intact when compared to her neighbours
9. Finally, people in Vietnam are good and kind :)

Good and Bad things about India(Current).

1. States are like countries and country is like a continent (\m/)
2. Too much diversity and cultural difference among states
3. India destined to be a BIG market
4. Most of the people are nationalist
5. They hate pakistan
6. Cricket is everywhere
7. Internet speed is WORST
8. Too many languages
9. South India is no where same compared to North India
10. Like another Asian country, politicians are corrupt.
11. Awesome Food :D

Vietnam is nation state. India is a badly-mixed cocktail, best.
Ah, even China is like that. o_O

Media in Vietnam reported that if we Vietnamese don't change, Cambodian and Laotien friends could surpass us in near future.

Wow, it's great! :smitten:
But I don't agree with this one:
7. They hate USA
IMHO, the government (communist) don't like USA, but the people like USA.:thinktank:

Well can't disagee, they do seem to have a better administration than India, manufacturing sector has been neglected in India frm past many years,if a country seriously want to do better in manufacturing sector they hv to make its laws business friendly and competetive, which isn't the case,a single firm needs literally hundreds of clearences to beign with ,which easily may take upto 2-3yrs to be cleared, vietnam has abt 90mill ppl aswell so for a businessman if India is an headace then he would naturally shift its business to say a place like Vietnam or stay away frm India ,and that's wt is happening.

But i will also assume, the average vietnamese has a higher literacy rate and life expectancy than the average Indian.
They are on par wid china ,way ahead of India :D

Don't understand the meaning of this thread. But why are lamborginis being compared to Hyundais?

Indians will not kill you at least, crazy Vietnamese will kill you withour mercy....:D

The idea of the OP is certainly not to incite a flame war among Indian and Vietnamese posters.

I feel its unfair to compare Vietnam with India as Vietnam was at war till 1975.

Somethings Indians can learn from Vietnam-
1. Emphasis on math education
2. Emphasis on sports
3. Emphasis on electronics manufacturing sector.
4. Emphasis on Robotics.
