Singh is a very common surname in India, not limited to Rajput, Sikhs and Jatts. You ll find Singhs in all northern, eastern and central Indian states, from Jammu all the way to Madhya Pradesh and West Bengal, heck there are some Singhs in the north east as well.

I think at the end it comes down to resources and diet. If you look at the national games tally, the states that top the list either have a good balanced protein rich diet, or are relatively well off or both.

I don't think India's lackluster performance in sports has anything to do with genetics. If you eat well, and you train hard enough you ll succeed, and with a pool of 1.3 Billion, finding genetically blessed athletes isn't that hard.

South Asia is very varied racially and genetically. The further South you go, the less athletic people are, the further North you go, you have folks who can compete with any race in the world.
Much of it is mindset. South Asians frown upon the whole pursing sports thing, unless it is bloody cricket.
You also have diet etc.
But look, Western and other developed states will always dominate due to having the ability to finance sport.

Mate as mentioned before the only two sprint medals in Olympics ever to win by any South Asians are two Sri Lankans, Sri Lankan Rugby team is ranked 4th in Asia and 36th in the world out of 130 behind Japan and Hong Kong (HK being completely British expat laden side) and Korea.. In the 7's they are one better being the 3rd ranked side

Yes they maybe the exception and cannot even compare with other countries outside the region but still dont agree on North South divide in athleticism, Sri Lanka is as south as you can get.. South Asian as a whole are shyt at sports

Also if you take only South Asia as a measurement Sri Lanka ranks only behind India in medals at South Asian games, To put that in context is like population less than the city of Karachi, with 24 mil competing against India 1.3 bil, Pakistan 182 mil, Bangladesh 156 mil.. Sri Lanka whole population is 21 mil and still manages to be 2nd overall

Well can you say the same thing about chinese or japanese. As I said forget about athletics are we better in other areas? We dont need to in the top but being nowhere is utter systemic failure.


Two different things dear, following dharma doesnt mean you shouldnt excel. Quite often we underestimate western society though for all its faults they still have better principles & values than us.

Since when do Chinese or Japenese win swimming and athletic medals? They may be better than South Asians but still nowhere near the (Nordid) European or (Congoid) African.
Of course in gymnastics and other sports they have improved with money etc, but I still do not think that they will be the "top dog" due to genes (unless of course they engage in genetic engineering).

Actually South East Asians are the same if not worse.. Apart from some Badminton players or a rare boxer and a swimmer there is nothing much better

you can try, South East Asean compete in the same niche as East Asian in some particular world sport and we are doing good actually in lifting, gymnastics, team sport and other.

Just go through world rankings mate, Apart from Badminton and a few other individuals nothing much to talk about.. Certainly not in team sports
