I would give US democracy far more credit than that (Tump is definitely not an establishment candidate), and further make the point that the Arabs have done themselves no favors by denying Israel's right to exist. That alone makes up for a large part of the perceived imbalance in US policy in the region.

America like any super power has over reached and acted unfairly in pursuit of its own interests in the Muslim world....but it has done a LOT worse things in South America and parts of Asia and Africa. The difference is in the reaction to perceived high handed behavior.

Japan that had a nuclear bomb dropped on it, Vietnam had terrible chemical weapons used against it by the US, in Chile the most unsavory dictators were propped up in place by the US, Africa had millions of slaves kidnapped and transported to the new world. The British and the French before them were not much better. But all these "victim" countries could all eventually find a way to work with the US ( or the British or the French) and GET OVER IT.

The reaction of the ME and surrounding areas, is different to that from the rest of the world and it is uncompromising reaction that will cause the ME to continue burning in the foreseeable future. I don't see how you can win by taking on not only a super power by the rest of the world in perpetual medieval asymmetric warfare.

What you don't seem to understand is THE CONFLICT IS STILL GOING ON. It's not like "oh the US bombed you 10 years ago, get over it", the US is bombing them RIGHT NOW.

So if this superpower starts bombing your country, would you roll over and let them destroy you, then obediently follow all the instructions given to you by the puppet they appoint over you?

South Americans fought as well, lots of rebel movements against US-backed dictators like Batista and Pinochet. Some succeeded and others failed, but there were Civil wars and constant strife for decades during the Cold War. And they still haven't fully stabilised, FARC is still active.

And as for 'get over slavery', I'd like to see you say that to an African/African-American's face. You seem to be forgetting this. The reason they are now 'over it' in America IS BECAUSE IT HAS ENDED. They fought for their rights.

With the current mass communication, news gets viral very quickly.

Pray tell me, how do you think an American or a European will react when he hears that a group of university students, who are supposed to be educated and no longer kids, drag another one from his hostel room and kill him on the mere rumour that he had allegedly committed blasphemy? To top it all, onlookers were making video of the event instead of attempting to stop the savagery.
