Why do most people on Pakistani news channels call India as "Hindustan"?

Tarek Fateh is muhajir who some times pretend to be punjabi to justify his rabid hatred towards punjab. He cannot speak punjabi and his family migrated from India/Mumbai after 1947 as admitted by himself.

No one stabbed muhajirs in the back. Quota system was necessary for Sindhis to not become Bengalis, the same thing you are blaming us for want to do to Sindhis. Seed of bengali separation was laid by muhajir elite by imposing urdu on them. Not army following orders to curb insurgency 2 decades later.
LOL No. Tarek Fatah is Punjabi. You can clearly see hate when he conveniently refers 'Musliums of UP and CP' for creation of Pakistan among Hindutva Bigots.

Hahaha LOL. Its was not Urdu. It was the representation by Military Dictators which sowed for seperation

Urdu language chauvinism in Pakistan is still quite rampant as can be seen on this thread, some people treat urdu language as if it is some kind of god sent sacred entity when it is nothing but just another ******* ordinary language like any other language out there.

He is unfortunately Punjabi, brother. That means nothing to proud, patriotic Pakistanis like us.

Urdu speakers are our lions, we need to celebrate their sacrifices for Pakistan. Traitors exist in every ethnic group, and do not represent majority.

maybe, but what about the australian aboriginals practicing a religion which can be dated to the stone ages?
What was it called- Just curious.

Considering republic of India's history in past seven decades it is evident that it is only meant for Hindus ... minorities have no place here ..
You are confusing India to Pakistan and have the religions mixed up as well.

Even the word India is darogatory term used by west.
You mean west of India- That we already know (Indian sub-continent).

Not arab, its persian word which means land of or land of black thieves or you can call it land of slaves. No offence.
None taken- It was actually The Persians and Arabs who were the thieves- No

Look your not talking to a ignorant. "Way of life" is just a joke. So is Islam apparently.
I dont know the higher learning about Islam and have no right to comment about the way of life about a Muslim- If you think I called you an ignorant, the you are mistaken-Hinduism is a way of life-You are free agree to disagree.

And with regards to India. It is rooted from what is Pakistan. Th Indus. If your from Chennai then you are as far from Indus as a Turk. Finally Romania is not Roman Empire. Even if the name conflates. Non of the India's we have today rooted in the land that gave birth to this name - coterminous Pakistan.

  • Indiana ~ US state
  • Indians [West] ~ Caribean
  • Indonesia ~ formerly called East Indies
  • India
  • etc
Dont care how you want to dice it to suit your narrative- India is the source code and the generic country carved out of it is called Pakistan-

The Republic of India: India (Hindi: Bhārat), officially the Republic of India (Hindi: Bhārat Gaṇarājya), is a country in South Asia. It is the second-most populous country, the seventh-largest country by area, and the most populous democracy in the world.

. .
What do you think Islam is "way of death"? Or Judaism "way of halluciginating"?
I dont think anything or say say anything about Islam or Judaism- Its you who is making up stuff-All I said was Hinduism is a way of life for Hindus!

.
None taken- It was actually The Persians and Arabs who were the thieves- No

Well you have every right to call them with whatever suits you since they were the ones who used derogatory terms when referring to you or even us during ancient times.

Every Hindustani is a Hindu, be it followers of Islam, Christianity or Dharma Sanatana. Hinduism is not a religion but a nationality or I should call it identity in a derogatory sense given to you by foreigners. It has nothing to do with Dharma Sanatana or any other religion in your country.

Since we accepted Islam the Deen of equality, we could never accept to be called Indians or Hindustanis so our sane minds created Pakistan which means the land of the pure. Punjab, Balochistan, KPK, Sindh, Gilgit Baltistan, AJK is the real source code not India.

India does not mean Bharat nor Bharat means India or Hindustan. India is a derogatory term used by west and Hindustan is a derogatory term used by Persians.

What is your real identity? Is it Bharat or Bharat Vaasi? Why don't you stick to it? Why you like to be called with derogatory terms? Is it some kind of psychological problem with you guys?

Nope, he is muhajir like you. Nothing wrong with that but dont pretend to be something you hate. Thats what Tarek is, he justify his rabid hatred against punjabis by pretending to be one. Meanwhile also claim to have migrated from Mumbai and kiss feet of any hindu he see.

  1. Bharat, भारत, This is a name which given by people of this country itself. As a result, It should be the proper name. This name also has been recognized by our constitution.
  2. India. This name given by western country to us like they do with every country ,thing and place. Western world rename everything for their convenience. They named River Sindhu, सिंधु, as Indus and region called India.
  3. Aryavart, आर्यवर्त, this name emerged in ancient time , probably in rig vedic period. Those region inhabited by aryan called aryavart. It include present Pakistan ,Afghanistan, northern and central India and part of Tibbet and Nepal.
  4. Hindustan. हिंदुस्तान .This name has been awarded by Arabs . Interestingly, the religion Hinduism also termed by Arabs. The area inhabited by Hindu called Hindustan.
  5. Bharatvarsh. भारतवर्ष . This name again has indigenous origin. Many poet and learned person used the word Bharatvarsh. It's meaning match the word like eternal Bharat.

I thought Hindustan was a term given by Persians not Arabs. Arabs used the term Al-Hind I think.

So, he explains Bengali Islam simply as a consequence of shifting Bengal Delta.
Two questions -
1) Any read up on how that Bengal Delta shifted and how more and more forest land were cleared for rice fields?

2) There's a Sanghi trope that eastern Bengal had more Buddhist influence so they were converted easier than west, how much it holds water?

Also, he mentioned that, Islam in south Asia is an rural-agricultural phenomenon which seems true to certain extent like Punjab, Sindh and Bengal but not clear in other cases though one simple observation can be made that there's virtually no converts from Vaishya/Baniya castes (largely urban dwelling castes)- Agarwal, Oswal, Marwari, Khatri (Muslim exists but low population), Bhatia, Arora are all Hindus (or Sikh) but Lohanas have two large Muslim communities - Memons and Khoja Sheikhs. Are there any other trading community you know of?

The level of Muslim population is inversely proportional to the strength of the Brahmins in any particular region in INdia...The Brahmins developed a successful meme and managed to transport themselves to the top echelon of any society it found itself in across SOuth Asia and South East Asia....THe biggest Bengali Buddhist architectures are in Bihar and Bangladesh, and not so much in West Bengal....West Bengal was under the yoke of Brahmans much longer...very hard to completely obliterate Brahmanism in any region of South Asia once it has taken hold

Well, that does not explain Kashmir where there are a large number of both Hindu and Muslim Brahmins or even Punjab and Sindh where the caste system is ultra-rigid even after thousands of years of conversion (don't know exact percentage of Brahmin population in Punjab/Sindh though, also many converted Brahmins took up Syed/Shaikh as their caste/titles).

PS : In Kashmir interestingly, Brahmins are the only community still having a Hindu counterpart, traders caste - Wani are all Muslims.

@DESERT FIGHTER Here's another example of Telis being considered Baniyas as a sub-caste of Wani is Tal-Wain (those who sell oil).

The line of maximal water flow has always shifted around once the Ganga passed the rocky outcrops of the Rajmahal Hills, the Giridih-Jasidih locations. For instance, to give you a parallel example, the Hooghly was the main stream at one time, and itself broke into three at Triveni (three braids of hair); one stream went east, one went down the middle but not along the exact path that it follows today, and a major stream broke out and joined the sea independently to the east. Of the central course itself, at the Kidderpore Basin, it went out through its main course, the Buri Ganga, now known as Tolly's Canal, while the other, smaller stream continued down south past Diamond Harbour and land's end. Today, the Buri Ganga is a thin, shrivelled up remnant of its old, sea-faring vessel predecessor, while the main channel has also silted up due to the meddling with hydraulic engineering that finally led to the Damodar Valley Corporation.

It was when the stream shifted from the Hooghly to the Meghna-Padma that the change in Bangladesh began. The consensus is that it was due to tectonic shifts and the effects of an earthquake that caused this change. There are thought to be similar reasons for the change in flow of the Teesta, the Trisrota, that flows down from Sikkim and falls into the eastern river complex somewhere in Rajshahi.

Please read that bit above with caution; I always get confused by the Meghna, Padma combination, so don't take the names I use for granted, without checking them on a map.

2) There's a Sanghi trope that eastern Bengal had more Buddhist influence so they were converted easier than west, how much it holds water?

Well, the fully developed line of thought is that Sasanka, a Saivite, was extremely harsh with his Buddhist subjects, that this attitude was interrupted by the Palas, but came back with greater force under the Sena emperors, and that the landlords continued to grind the faces of their tenant farmers into the mud, and that led to a pent-up resentment and anger that made the work of the missionary Sheikhs all the easier. There is no doubt that landlords were harsh with their tenants.

I presume your question is, do I know of any other trading communities that remained untouched by Islam and therefore bear out his proposition that the traders were less affected than rural and agricultural workers.

Well, yes, I do, with regard to Bengal, and that consists largely of the communities whose caste-names end with -banik - bania. Examples are Suvarna-banik, Gandha-banik, Kansa-banik, and so on, translating to 'gold-smith/ gold-dealer', 'perfumery merchant', 'brass merchant', and the like. I have never earlier thought of them in this context, but do know that they effectively kept the Marwari out of East Bengal, although the community had penetrated West Bengal thoroughly.

Brahmins never became syeds. They use shiekh titles.

It is funny how a natural event can change religious demography.

Wasn't there an Oswal merchant who financed British against Nawab? Baniks don't seem to play to a dominant role in Bengali society as Baniyas play in North India and Gujarat (the Vania hub).
