Not true. Germany gave them quite a bloody nose in WWI. But Russia lost because Bolsheviks wanted to consolidate their territory. I suspect if the German Empire prosecuted the war to its fullest extent, they would eventually be ground down by the newly formed USSR, just like in WWII.

Take the china - russia gas deal. China tried for years to get this contract under this ridicolous low price and russia did always denie to sign the contract. Now under western sanctions Putin signed it. The deal is so unfortunate for russia, that it even pays money to deliver gas to China.

And no pipeline exists yet to bring oil and gas there. If the Eu stops buying gas, Russia is finished. So Putin must bite into the sour apple in that case. China uses russias dilemma ice cold.

Russia adheres to dollar/euro financial standard thats why its dependent. During USSR era it did not.It survived,thrived and became superpower when it did not adhere to dollar standard which it started in 1989-90 as per houston agreement.But that is changing with the currency swap agreements.

And people revolt when there is lack of food also. That happened in ww1.
