What's new

Why did the US back the coup against Pakistan's PM Imran Khan?

IKs only shortcoming was that mouth of his, had he just known what to say, how to say it and how to articulate it he wouldn’t be in this mess. A gung ho attitude may work in local politics but it doesn’t fly in the international arena.
IKs disease was making big statements with nothing to back them up

for better or worse.. i believe Khan did the right thing.

Is America involved in any way.. it's the sort of think they have a habit of orchestrating to get a puppet leader under their control.

in a nut shell Khan told Biden he can go have sex with him self...
Actually, he was waiting for Biden's call, I'm sure to tell him what you wrote above, but the call never came...........ahhh the disappointment!!!

nonsense.

Imran Khan had no moral positions or thought out agenda for his country - except this vague notion that he was born to rule and whatever he says/does to further that notion must be good for Pakistan.

You will find him supporting both sides of each of the issues mentioned at various points in time depending where he is and the time of the day.

What i see pakistani public supports Imran khan , so next election will be won by Imran , he will be PM of pakistan , if he does not use his own wisdom in running the govt , he will fail badly , if he will use his own wisdom he will choose able and considerably honest(honest people do not join politics ) people without resorting to taking revenge from army , pmln , ppp, jui and others . this will give him enough time to strengthen his position and get re election . If he keeps his old way of taking revenge and getting influenced and getting direction from others , he will fail and certainly will be a spent force .Another thing is US is super power they do not care who is at the helm of power in Pakistan .

US is super power , that is all , they are not bothered who is PM of Pakistan . They have enough money to get their way .

Many people are waking up and seeing the reality. The US is a very nasty meddler. The Pakistani army is a handler.

The problem is Pakistani people allow the US meddle in their affairs, tell them what to do, what to eat, they are worthy or not as American partners... I could recall when Pakistan diplomats asked China for help, Beijing said they'll lend their support to Pakistan if a foreign power meddles in Pakistan's internal affairs. Many Paks on this forum angrily roared: "We don't want China to interfere, we can handle the matter ourselves, etc." But when it was cleared the US executed a regime change (Donald Lu was frank expressing Washington's desire telling a Pak diplomat), these same Paks didn't say anything or fart even a bubble.

Why is it? I find this very interesting with a lot of 3rd-world countries including Bangladesh, Argentina, etc. Do these former colonized countries believe only the whites can tell them what to do and only the whites' words are acceptable?

Any country that seeks to 'help' another country will only do that if their agenda is aligned or to align their agenda.

in case of democracies, the agenda is to achieve peace, global betterment and human rights.
in case of China it is for better investment returns of their surplus dollars.

For example USA 'helped' Pakistan to fight terrorists.
China 'helped' Pakistan to blindly sign up for CPEC that has bankrupted Pakistan

Pakistan has a debt problem but not a debt to China problem. China is not the biggest Pakistan’s debtor.

CPEC is a good initiative overall. What it needs is better transparency.

Debt is not a problem if used properly. In Pakistan’s case its politicians take a huge haircut and then the cost is passed on to the public to bear.

The dysfunctional democracy (if it exists) and military’s supra constitutional role makes matter worse in terms of no accountability or rule of law.

PTI were trying to correct the balance between civilian and military but then they were overthrown.

The US did not execute the regime change. As I said earlier, its the Pakistani establishment and the corrupt colluded with each other who executed it for their own reasons. And now here we are.

The funniest part is that people are still parroting the Trump Administration's CIA talking points (largely based on Indian talking points).

They don't even understand that the talking points have changed since the Biden Administration came into power.

They didn't back it up,

they planned and executed the coup/.

They did this, and continue to rule Pakistan through their proxy a.k.a Pakistan Army.

US needs to do this, to ensure their global dominance ..

If China and Russia get access to warm waters, Dollar and USA are gone.
Disagree here
They simply gave their blessings

The coup was by army with help of elected people

Anyone who went to Lahore knows Khan had zero support in 2022 in the street because people use to say inflation at 10% is bad and we wAnt 3-4 inflation of 2015-2017 which was primary due to money from CSF in exchange for Pakistanis in KP being blown to pieces in drones lead by false intelligence by pak army

People were okay with it

Didn't we all hear "khata hey tu lagata be hey"

The only reason why people aren't happy with PDM is inflation

Fix that and people will vote back for PMLN
