the soviet strategy was dessigned to deal with a nuclear environment; their doctrine required them to win a quick coventional victory which required massive mobile forces up front to overwhelm their opponent before he could deploy an effective defense; even if nuclear weapons were employed they hoped to limit damage by the swiftness of their victory; you need to ebar in mind that all of NATO outnumbered all of warsaw pact in absolute terms.

Our military philosophy was that we had to be ready to repel an attack on all fronts at once. That is, should be able to make war with the rest of the world and win in the end.
A collapse of the USSR was made by traitors. No economic prerequisites that were not. In the 80's in the West was the same crisis. If it was not a traitor Gorbachev - American agent, the Soviet Union had existed for a long time.
However, soon to be the Eurasian Union and gradually we will return to socialism and restore power to around 2025 - 2030 years.

First overwhelming numerical superiority is applied at the focal points. Then when the local focal fronts are about to collapse, strong pressure is applied throughout the length of the whole front to prevent the enemy from shifting forces from other sectors to the focal points. Obviously this tactic requires a lot of forces hence the large army. Thats what they did in ww2 in 1943/44. And then stuck to this plan afterwards.

Well the Afghan jihad in which the ISI featured very prominently was certainly one of many reasons the USSR split asunder, in regards to your latter comments, wait and see.Kudos
