Pure democracy, in the sense of government run by one person one vote majority rule, does not exist anywhere. Sustainable "democratic" systems use "enough" democratic procedures to gain legitimacy for a rule of law that includes safeguards for individual rights. The great debate is always over what constitutes "enough".

Democracy used to work in the 50s to 90s but the advancement of media ruin everything with too much opinion easily pass onto many people quickly. Now decision stagnant, action is slow to execute. Progress delay badly.

Democracy is now the worst option for a successful government.
