Why can't India produce any movie stars that are as well known globally as Bruce Lee or Jackie Chan?

Ask the average person in the world to name even one single Bollywood star off the top of their heads. Nothing.

Both of them entered Hollywood that's why people know that. Indian movies are also popular at many places, you just need to know it.

Is that why the average person in the world knows the names of Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, Jet Li, etc.... while they can't even name one single Indian movie star?

And here is more soft power for you. In the BBC Country ratings poll, China was ranked more positively worldwide than the EU, and the EU was ranked more positively worldwide than the USA. And all three were ranked FAR above India.

We may not have much soft power in comparison to the rest of the world, but India is even further behind than that.

Those are their English names, not their Chinese names. And Chow Yun Fat is a purely Chinese name.

Ask the average person in the world to name a Chinese movie star. Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan and Jet Li, everyone knows these names.

Now ask the average person in the world to name a Bollywood star... Nothing.

The only thing that they will know is "Slum Millionaire", which is a British made film.

Bollywood is the only Successful film Industry in the World apart from Hollywood making Billions of Dollars.

China, Iran, Turkey, Korea, Europe None have been able to make a Film Industry to Speak off.

The Reason - We Love What we make, we watch, we Enjoy, We don't give a Jack about what others think.

While all the above go to Impress the White Man (Europeans to Americans) and dream of getting an Oscar.

Oscar is not considered a Sh!t here.

We don't care of What the World Thinks about us, While The rest of the above only think What the World thinks of them.

Result: We have Industry worth Billions of Dollars More than all the rest above Combined.

Which non-Christian culture has ever been actively promoted by the (Anglo-controlled) world media? Heck even Mexican culture is more popular in the West. I see Californian youth rehearsing for 5 de Mayo, but who cares about Chinese New Year or Indian Republic Day?
Tear down the Hollywood monopoly, and your pop culture will surely shine.

If Im not mistaken, Kung-fu is a style of martial arts that Bruce Lee created himself...Not sure if its a traditional martial art like say Bushido etc...
