The year was 2004 when Quest for a Land based Supersonic BrahMos cruise missiles lead to the development of Army-specific BrahMos Block-II Land Attack Cruise Missile (LACM) variant which was equipped with special imaging processing software for terming homing, thus allowing it to pick out high priority targets over fortified enemy territories .

Various improvements were sorted to further enhance Land-based BrahMos leading to the development of Block-III which in Pokhran test searched ,located and destroyed a 50-cm thick concrete bunker with pinpoint accuracy .

While it has not been officially confirmed but Block-III BrahMos is equipped with Digital Scene Matching Area Correlator (DSMAC) which can provide precision surgical strike against an array of enemy counter-force and counter value targets ranging from airfields to overland communications, command and control centers and can overcome powerful air defence protected installations facilities .

Chinese are especially worried about Block-III’s enhanced maneuverability which enables it to do a terminal 70 degrees steep drive endgame to enable surgical strikes at mountain areas and high-value naval targets including aircraft carriers. what will only make Chinese further nervous is that now India is quietly working on Block-III+ as informed by well-informed sources close to idrw.org which will bring much more improvements in current Block-III variants.

According to sources, Block-III+ will come with 90-degress steep drive endgame capability and better warhead to enforce maximum damage to facilities which have been reinforced with military grade concrete . Block-III+ will be able to fly though many way-points and will come with improved guidance systems which also includes additional provisions for IRNSS and GAGAN and INS which will only improve its pinpoint accuracy further below 5 meters .

Thanks for posting this article

It is a Big pain copying articles from IDRW -- long and tedious process :-)

Damn man, a cruise missile with only 290 km range? How terrifying. :cheesy:

As for attacking ships, you know our DF-26 carrier killer ballistic missile has a range of around 5000 km?
Is it also S to S and A to S as well ? ship to Surface or sub to surface ?
Also it does not comes under cruise Missile category, It will be tracked immediately upon launched.

@PARIKRAMA sirji can they now increase it's range, after MTCR ? Can the existing B-III be modified with larger range for domestic use ?
its already a longer range in block III and beyond for sure.. Even earlier ones in Block II has extended range features.. we have done some smart things which will enable us to tweak all Brahmos to full range soon when they come for overhaul and life extension.

ohhhh yeah i can see red eyes of chines head of the state

Why would it reach that far? The "anger" effects will only go up as far as their low level bureaucrats and high level command chain at best. Leaders delegate to these people for a reason you know.

The precedent this sets (and the fact India can exchange them out down the road with much more longer range block versions of the missiles) will not go unnoticed by the PLA.

But then the media will obviously give their spin on everything on top of it.

.
One question. Why is it that whenever India makes something like Tejas, Brahmos, Nirbhay, LCH and oher defence products it becomes a nightmare for all ? Other countries are making better products but you won't find the label nightmare for enemies with them.

Because whatever they manage to come up with must be "Game Changers".

DF-21D is the world's very first operational "anti-ship" quasi-ballistic missile. Known as the world's first carrier killer ballistic missile.

And the DF-26 is the extended version with a 5000 km range.

Please don't compare it to your 1970's Shaurya tech, it's a completely different platform, ours is intended to sink moving ships.

True, DF-21D is a deadly missile against cargo ships, battleships will easily track and destroy this ballistic missile though...but that doesn't take away the credit for China's ability to destroy cargo ships.
