Why Can’t Vietnam Grow Better Rice?

What is this Chinese rice called? I want to buy some in the Chinese supermarket if they export to Canada.

Climatic reasons,chicken grown up during half year is better than grown up in 35days;
Just as in China, the best rice is grown in North East area, growth period is long, full particles, looks nerely transparent as emerald:

Rice in Vietnam can grown up three times one year, Particles slender and white, taste not well,

THe former grown up only 1 times per year(weak point), but more expensive and taste well(good point)
the latter grown up 3 times per year(good point), but cheap on market and taste not well(weak point)
There are plenty of types of rice around. Some smell good but have no taste, while some taste good but have no smell at all. Normally Vietnamese farmers grow rice 2 times per year, allowing the field to recover. Your pic is a low quality rice type. Vietnamese also prefer round grain, and white rice.

China accounts for 41.75% of Vietnam's rice export.

HANOI - China remained Vietnam's largest rice importer in the first four months of 2014,accounting for 41.75 percent of Vietnam's rice export, said Vietnam's Ministry of Agriculture andRural Development (MARD) on Thursday.

According to the MARD's latest report, during the January-April period, China imported some913,957 tons of Vietnamese rice, worth $392.46 million, up 2.39 percent in volume and 4.94percent in value year on year.

In the period, Vietnam's average rice export price enjoyed ayear-on-year increase of 4.4 percent to hit $456.19 per ton, said the MARD.

In May, Vietnam sold 591,000 tons of rice worth $259 millionto overseas markets.

During the first five months, the country earned $1.19 billionfrom exporting 2.65 million tons of rice, down 7.3 percent invalue and 10.2 percent in volume year on year, said thereport.

The decrease of Vietnamese rice exports during the periodresulted from remarkable decline in demand of severalVietnamese rice markets including Malaysia, Ivory Coastand Singapore, assessed Vietnam Industry and TradeInformation Center (VITIC) under the Ministry of Industry andTrade.

Vietnam Food Association was quoted by VITIC as sayingthat in 2014, Vietnam's rice export will face further difficulties with shrinking market and strongcompetition from Thailand.

According to Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency, Vietnam is one of the most important riceproducers and exporters in the world. Rice plays the most important role among agriculturalcommodities in Vietnam in terms of food security, rural wages and employment, as well as exportrevenues.

In 2013, Vietnam earned $2.99 billion from exporting 6.72 million tons of rice. and it is expectedto meet the target of exporting 7 million tons in 2014.

To be honest, I rarely see VN rice on Chinese market at least in my city, maybe Southern China like Guangdong or Guangxi eat VN rice.

this 47.5% is a percentage of your total export, but, if you put this number on China's huge market, it's very small. You have no idea how much rice we consume each day. Many people don't even heard of VN rice, they only know Thai rice.

We use sticky rice to make rice-pudding(zongzi) during dragon-boat day, we soak rice in water much longer than half an hour.

It is still hard to digest , maybe different kind.

Sticky kind of rice is good for pudding since its starch make the pudding thick. We have this pudding called Kheer made from rice, milk, sugar and dry fruits and sometime saffron.
