I don't think Chinese want to change this. Every system has its flaws, democracy for one has its own. In India, our insanely proud Indians, chose leader like Mulayam Singh Yadav, Mayawati, Mamta Banarjee, Laloo Prasad and so many other "Idiots" and then everybody have to suffer for 5 years as democracy doesn't allow to overthrow them. The last 5 years of UPA-II, were helpless for Indians but we 1B+ ppl did or could not overthrow them.

What is the alternative ? A chaotic system open to foreign influences ? What benefits would Chinese get from overthrowing the CCP ? Freedom ? Democracy ? We already have freedom certainly not to the standards of freedom of Western Countries, Democracy ? Democracy will hinder our Country we are not ready for it, Repeat of the Arab failure revolutions. Democracy failed in Arab countries, westerners were spouting it would come China now they're all silent, with the carnage and failures in the Arab world. CCP simply offers the best path of development for China I will take that over democracy or electing my own leaders any day.

No, I agree with most of the things that those answers say. What is most important is that China get the best system that it can get. I think compared to democracy, what is most urgently needed is Freedom of Speech, and Freedom of Press. You can slowly open up in those two sectors. You need a civil society to protect your society.

Every government has its own strong points and weak points. If you want to see what happens with a coup, Ukraine is a good example.

Freedom of Press and Speech exists to a certain limit, I would say China could expand more on stronger civil liberties .

Neither am I nor any other answer in the forum asked for a coup. That would of course be a disaster. But you should focus on gradual opening up. Censorship, that too explicit, has no place in this world. I think Freedom of speech, no or less censorship, and freedom of press are very important, along with the rule of law and independent judiciary. I am not asking for sudden changes, but gradual ones over 10 year period. You can start with a policy of zero censorship on Weibo.

I was very happy to see Xi Jinping pushing for Judicial Independence.

Absolutely.

Why can't a billion people overthrow the Communist party and make China democratic? - Quora

Quora is an internet forum, which has a very active and intellectual crowd. You should try visiting the forum.

Democracy is not always good man...See what is happening in India...Democracy in India is always holding itself back...So if I am a China citizen, I would love to be the way China is Governed now...The best part of China which i like it is that it puts nationalism as the prime objective rather than what any religion or any religious sentiment of the people...

Hmm nice question. May be just may be they don't want to die:enjoy:

Or more accurately, people in China who are initially curious and positive about democratic governments are quickly disabused of that notion by taking one look over the border and seeing that India, the "world's largest democracy", is actually the world's largest toilet.

After seeing wat happened in Iraq and Libya----Chinese are happy with what they have.
Actually we go way back to Russia. What happened to the mighty Soviet Union still lingers in our society. Of course, the current state of India is not helping either. You can bet our attitude towards democracy would be different if India GDP were 4 times that of ours instead of the other way around...

Nicely put, although I'd argue that nationalism is the prime objective. I think currently the prevalent sentiment in China is pragmatism. Whatever works man, whatever works;)

Since the collapse of USSR, the US has made many mistakes by strengthening Chinese people's immune system against their western democracy.

This is due their arrogance and simpleton mind.

They still haven't realized that people's support for CPC is becoming much more stronger than a decade ago.
