Bangladesh was never going to be a commie country, but may have had socialist elements, organisations in the country aimed at alleviating poverty.

But 70s and it’s experiment with socialism was a disaster.

And in 80s and 90s there was constant hartals by criminalised unions.

Military regimes of Major Zia and Ershad were incompetent and could not bring stability to enable the entrepreneurs to compete.

We have only had a decade without hartals. Under the Iron Lady Hasina.

A civilian woman has succeeded where two military dictators could not.

Bangladesh needs three decades of authoritarian rule.
