Why Bangladesh sucks and will suck for a long time. My perspective

People in this country are scums, no respect for one another. Spits on the street, throws waste from the balcony, gropes women if they get the chance to. I am done. I thought this country is fixable. But tbh not until people are disciplined. I hope I complete my education abroad and get settled abroad. And truth be told I used to despise people who used to adopt another country's citizenship. But now I understand why they did. I don't see my future in Bangladesh. I hope god keeps it that way.

I am not young, I lived in that Shonar Bangla until I was 23 yr. old. Even then I cannot stand all those filthy things that you have mentioned in your post.I have similar or worse experience about the people as I hail from the Faridpur town. I will have to go there again to settle family property matters. May Allah save me.

I noticed many of the PDF members do not apprehend how bad the quality of living is in BD and brag about their Shonar Bangla. It is because their parents are quite rich, they go out in cars and as such they do not have to experience common people's life. These guys should visit Thailand and Singapore to see the high level of standard for all their people in those countries. Roads are clean, no food stall on the roads, no throwing of garbage on the roads etc.

Pakistan Govt. sold this item to tens of countries and built factories in West Pakistan with imported machines paid by the currency that we earned. It continued for the 23 years we were together. After 1971 the developed countries have already developed plastic bags and Vietnam war was over. This caused BD not to get foreign currency by Jute export trade. Our jute mills were in shambles because the mills were all politicized. India took full advantage and our jute were smuggled to India.

Now, after so many years, the developed world has decided that plastic bags are causing pollution. Now, again jute will take its due position. But, we are no more dependent upon jute. We have moved over to other export items and the foreign export earnings will not ever be used to develop west Pakistan.

well, graduated from Kuwait in an Indian school, parents thought why not send him to Bangladesh to study medicine and become a doctor. My first reaction... why Bangladesh? Parents went up in rage saying you gotta thing about our expanses etc. anyways I planned to move to Bangladesh saying final goodbyes to all my friends from all over the world. I landed in Dhaka early in the morning, I see the custom officers harassing the passengers, citing me as the next target they make me open all my cargo claiming that I have items that I gotta pay tax for! Bit ch wtf? They make me wait all morning making me go through all of them... as I was cleared and ready to exit the airport. These corrupt assholes show up again and tries to open em all again. This time they burst my balls so bad, I start cursing them in all the five languages I mastered over the years. I head out and omg, this place is infested with people like cockroaches, everyone stinks etc etc. it takes me four hours to reach home at wari.

Tuition for preparatory medical exam starts in Ramadan and it's medico coaching. My parents were promised English medium classes and first day we had physics class... the teacher was one of the toppers last year in Bangladesh teaching physics... the dude literally stutters trying to pronounce each words... in matter of 15 min students from Bangladesh got fed up and asked him to continue in Bengali. We were told to buy books I bought em the next day, took em to the class and behold there is a new edition released just yesterday and now I don't get no refund for my book and have to buy the new one. Biology classes held the teacher was fairly good in English but then she started speaking in Bengali most of the time and asked us to buy a Bengali edition of biology book as the English edition had topics missing. We faced the same situation with other subjects too. I became so fed up with all these scams I quit and took a refund.

Now I am leaving Bangladesh and going abroad for medicine in Ukraine. The level of disrespect you get being a student from foreign country and mistreatments and no opportunity what so ever makes Bangladesh a bad place for education work and general living. Guess what? Dhaka university that used to be on top 100 slid to top 500 and now not even on top 1000s (Local TV report. I am sure it's like that) education system is fucked by that education minister I call "taqla" out of hatred. I can seriously do better job than that guy. Simply one word to describe him... Moron!

Please co-operate with the officials, you will see the miracle. Customs are same all over the world. I never faced any trouble in BD airport and they never even opened my luggage except scanning. I never paid any bribe.

Which medical school are you talking about? A lot of foreigner without Bengali skill are studying in BD. I seen them learned Bengali quick. Why was Bengali a problem for you when other students were prefering that.

As someone who's family runs a small/midium sized knit company (780 workers), experience tells us india is unlikely to be a large market for our RMG exports (in the short to medium term at least), there are issues with non-tariff barriers, LC etc etc etc. We make far higher margins in the traditional markets of the EU and the US. We are now looking to expand to other non tradional markets, Eastern europe, japan, ASEAN countries and China (via HK).

We are also in the process of setting up our own design house, and hiring designers from Thailand, Slovakia and Bangladesh to move up the value chain.

then compare yourself with indians (as we are not much fan of indians). India is full of many problems, sometimes very worst. But you will not see Indians bragging much about this and say India is bad rather you will see them to say Incredible India and try to do something for India.
We bangladeshis have culture to blame others and talk sh*t about the country, so foreigners think Bangladesh is Sh*t.
and talking about foreign countries ? One of my close friend who lives abroad for study, told me they know how to hide their bad sides of their culture.
give you examples: Thai land has bigger traffic problem than Bangladesh, do you know that ? Bangkok is full of gangstars, illegal markets and exotic areass, but ever saw Thai ppl brags about it ?

Calm down, before going to Ukraine check if their qualification in medicine is recognized. In Pakistan people with medical degrees from Ex USSR are not recognized by Medical Council. So check before joining them.

Since getting independence from Pakistan, a country built on Islam, generally it's thought Allah's curse is on Bengalis, which chose ethnicity over Islam.

The biggest prospects in the future are, services, ICT, white goods, automotive and light industrial goods, ship building etc....all in all we expect to have exports in the region of $80bn to $100bn by the early 2020s, in other words 2.5x what it is now.

Well, Ukraine is quite popular among students from developing countries, given its cheap tuition fees and lifestyle. Make sure that they would be recognized in other countries where you might plan to move later.

About airport, I have up till date, NEVER faced any problem or checks at Dhaka. I have lived in UAE, Sweden and also traveled from Germany. There has not been a single occasion when they have asked me any extra questions. Always stick on your smartness and cooperate. That sets you apart from others.

Infrastructure wise and aesthetically speaking Pakistan looks more developed and modern . Islamabad looks like beautiful european town , squeeky clean streets and tree lined avenues . Lahore already has a BRT and will have metro train next year . Bangladesh looks bogged down and underdeveloped and is unappealing speaking aesthetic wise because of overpopulation in such a small area .


Poverty might be around 20-30 % but its less is urban areas . Middle class has grown so fast there are now malls almost everywhere even in smaller cities .

Cleanliness of a city depends on the city corporation as well as basic infrastructure. Everything again proportionate to the budget allocated. It will get improved over time as more money flows in.

Most visitors from BD to foreign countries overlooked or not aware of the cleaning guys do their job after midnight in the street.

My mom is from faridpur. XD not because their parents are rich or something. Cars cost very less in Bangladesh compared to other countries. Just about any middle class can own one nowadays. And yes they I suppose didn't see discipline of people in this country.

Dude I always do Cooperate. Some o them just want to harass people for bribes. This was my first time. You know wat they did? After scanning they saw my clothes.... they marked all the luggage saying I brought lots of milk and clothes with me and I gotta pay the taxes. I checked what I have to pay tax for earlier on. And didn't bring any item I should I pay for. But even after being cleared if you're made to open them all up again then at the exit. What do you expect any sane person reaction? I have. I can go for post graduation in European countries and in Americas... colleges in Ukraine are recognized all over the world. You just need to write the licensing exam of respective countries. I believe that's the case with Pakistan because Pakistan doesn't have good relation with many countries. Even CBSE certificate that was accepted some time ago is now rejected in Pakistan. Pakistan is losing many of its talented student because of this.
